When it comes to emotional resilience in the face of climate change, an important and overlooked aspect is growing our capacity to be with difficult feelings and experiences as we are living through more challenges. Yes, we need tools to support our hearts and nervous systems too. It’s a both/and.
This is anything but soft or a distraction to the polycrises we are in: these kinds of practices are essential to stay engaged, present, and clear minded. Otherwise we are on the road to burnout. Let’s do this 💚

I’m glad to be a resident climate-aware therapist for Britt Wray’s Gen Dread newsletter. In this column a grandmother is faced with the question of how to navigate intergenerational climate conversations. What results is a powerful act of love. And it’s what we need now more than ever.
Dear Climate Therapist: How can I apologize to my grandson without drowning in sadness?
