For Quakers, faith & action are inseparable," said recording clerk for Quakers in Britain.

“Peaceful protest, prayer, & non-violent action are expressions of our worship. When this is criminalised, our religious freedom is under attack."

Quakers in Britain has been refused permission to give evidence in a landmark legal challenge to the UK government's proscription of Palestine Action as a terrorist group.

We are disappointed with this decision, which means our concerns around freedom of religion will not be heard in court.

Between them, @carolecadwalla.bsky.social at @thenerve.news and @peterjukes.bsky.social at @bylinetimes.bsky.social have blown the Farageov treachery wide open.

The big UK media players are *u**ing cowards, and reveal themselves to be a stinking, corrupt part of the plot to destroy Britain.

Experts warn of food shortages and civil unrest. Yet nearly half of Brits think climate change won’t affect them.

This gulf in perception is why we’re staging the National Emergency Briefing on the #climate & #nature crisis.

Has your MP confirmed they’ll be there? 👇

Statement from Brummies United Against Racism

We are deeply alarmed by the rise in racist attacks taking place across our city, including the rape of a woman in Oldbury and the attack on a 12 year old boy in a park in Yardley. Birmingham has long stood as a proud symbol of diversity, solidarity, and community — but these recent events threaten that identity.

We are especially concerned about the growing anti-migrant and xenophobic narratives being pushed in political discourse and the media. These narratives are not just words — they are fuelling racism and directly contributing to the uptick in racist abuse, harassment, and violence we are now witnessing on our streets.

Let us be clear: this is not acceptable, and it must not be allowed to continue.

We call on our political leaders — the Leader of Birmingham City Council, the West Midlands Mayor, and the West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner — to break their silence. We urge them to publicly and unequivocally condemn these racist attacks and the toxic narratives that are enabling them.

Racism is not a fringe issue. It is a threat to the safety, dignity, and cohesion of our communities. Our leaders must show moral courage, not political convenience.

We also call on all Brummies — of every background — to stand united against hate. We must not allow division to take root in our city. Now, more than ever, we need collective action, solidarity, and leadership that reflects the values of justice, equality, and humanity.

💚 A massive thank you to the ART FACTORY. They created so much, not only for XR, but for others in the ecology of movements too.

Their generosity, skills and #imagination helped others too - they were always willing to reach out, helping many groups to achieve #socialchange.

Kissinger helped prolong the Vietnam War for political gain.

In 1968, while peace talks were underway, he secretly leaked details to Nixon’s campaign - helping sabotage the talks to boost Nixon’s election chances.

The war dragged on for years. Hundreds of thousands more died.

Then came Bangladesh.

In 1971, Pakistan’s military carried out a genocidal campaign against the Bengali independence movement, massacring up to 3 million people and driving 10 million refugees into India.

US diplomats on the ground begged Washington to act. Kissinger and Nixon backed the killers.

One US cable called it “selective genocide”. Kissinger dismissed the reports as “bleeding hearts.”

When India intervened to stop the slaughter, he and Nixon condemned India. All because they wanted to protect their Cold War alliance with Pakistan.

Then came Chile.

When Chileans elected the socialist Salvador Allende in 1970, Kissinger approved a plan to destabilise the country and “make the economy scream”.

The goal: pave the way for a military coup.

Three years later, Allende was dead, Chile’s democracy was crushed, and Pinochet’s brutal dictatorship began.

Tens of thousands were tortured, disappeared, executed.

Kissinger said “I don’t see why we need to stand by and watch a country go communist due to the irresponsibility of its own people.”

By the time Kissinger collected his “Peace Prize”, he had:
• Bombed Cambodia in secret
• Helped prolong the Vietnam War
• Backed genocide in Bangladesh
• Undermined democracy in Chile

Two Nobel committee members resigned in protest. Kissinger’s co-laureate, Lê Đức Thọ, refused the prize altogether.

Few prizes have captured the disgusting hypocrisy of power like this one.

The man who helped unleash mass death and dictatorship was honoured for peace.

And the world learned a grim truth: sometimes the worst crimes come dressed in diplomacy.

Time to replace the so-called Peace Prize with a Nonviolence Prize - only those who demonstrate commitment to nonviolence can win.

No more war-mongers being given peace prizes.

The Nobel Peace Prize was won by one of the worst war criminals of the 20th century.

The year was 1973.

His name was Henry Kissinger.

This is his thread of shame.
