How I imagine dermatologists choosing pumpkins in the Fall. 🎃

Drake like/dislike meme in which he dislikes a knobby pumpkin, but like a smooth skinned pumpkin.

“Fascism” isn’t a slur for politics we don’t like. It’s a precise word with precise meaning. And in the face of what’s happening right now in America, it’s the most honest one we have.

I’ll lay it out as plainly as I can. 🧵

It’s awful. The UPR system has been struggling under right wing conservative government mismanagement and austerity measures for years. This is another blow to an already struggling university system.

And I suspect some of the smaller private universities won’t survive this.

💾 WORD 🧠 PERFECT 🖨️
"A word processor should be an extension of your mind"
(ad from PC World, July 1983)
Full page, full color ad for Word Perfect by Satellite Software International (SSI). The tagline reads: "A word processor should be an extension of your mind." An intensely scifi airbrushed illustration depicts a translucent human head with bright lights on the forehead. Lightning leads from the forehead down to a computer terminal and into a very long, unbroken trail of printer paper, unspooling toward the viewer.

THIS.

And it’s amazing how the moment some educators are disappointed in students choosing to use LLMs, they instantly turn to cop shit.

What I really appreciate about the example in the piece at the top is that students were given full agency over their choices. This is the fuel for learning, IMO, but as the piece illustrates, we have to accept that giving that agency make come with disappointment on how students choose to use it.

The “problem” with vaccines? They so effective at preventing deaths that they create generations of people that question whether disease was a problem in the first place because they have never experienced the horrors of a world without vaccines.
