I actually still remember the dog-stomp comic where the artist talked about how he simplified his backgrounds and being so relieved that I jumped on that immediately.
if you're one person making a comic by yourself, don't treat yourself like you should function on the same level as comics that have multiple people working on them. your backgrounds can be squiggles and colors.
