Lots of people sharing this clip because it's funny and cathartic but I also genuinely believe it's important.

We have to win the narrative battle between "I live in a corrupt society and that's just how it is" and "I live in a corrupt society and we are going to defeat and humiliate these ghouls."
Good morning to Brazilian reporter Manuela Borges, who’s been waiting eleven years for this petty moment. ❤️ 🇧🇷

Also four Dems representing parts of the city Mamdani just won - Jeffries, Torres, Meeks, Meng.
4 senior House Dems — Hakeem Jeffries, Katherine Clark, Pete Aguilar, & Ted Lieu — voted for a Republican-led resolution to “CONDEMN SOCIALISM,” a symbolic measure that passed the chamber on Wed. The vote comes as NYC mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani is set to meet with Pres. Donald Trump at the WH today.

In age group 18-29, Kat leads Biss by *22 points*, meaning that if she turns out young + new voters in the same way Mamdani did, she’s absolutely gonna win.
NEW IL-09 poll with the Justice Coalition Action: Daniel Biss and Kat Abughazaleh are tied for first in the Democratic primary with 18% of the vote.

Laura Fine trails in third with 10%, and all other candidates receive 6% or less of the vote.

We’re a big, huge tent - there’s even a section for lunatic Republicans! This strategy has worked so well this past decade!
The “big tent” thing was always a transparent rebuke of the growing power of the left inside the Democratic Party.

The mantra also came to embody the problems of the modern party—namely that it doesn’t actually stand for anything.

Here we have reached its logical, laughable extreme. Beyond parody.
Raskin: We are a big tent. We must be a huge, vast tent. I say this is a party that’s got room for Marjorie Taylor Greene if she wants to come over.

This is pathetic man. You lost eight members of your caucus in the most significant showdown of this administration and you’re crying on the phone about how there’s nothing you could do.
cnn.com CNN @cnn.com · 10d
As eight senators in Chuck Schumer's caucus broke ranks to side with Republicans and vote to end the government shutdown fight he had engineered, the New York Democrat was on the phone trying to make it clear it wasn't his fault.

Blue states need to turbocharge their democracy reforms. Get ranked choice voting going! Do what Seattle did and do democracy vouchers to counterbalance rich spending! Reform primaries to be nonpartisan top 5 where all independents and 3rd parties can vote! Automatic voter registration and mail-in!

If Democrats knew how to communicate they’d plaster posters of this guy with a “TRUMP RELEASES CRIMINALS” tagline as far as the eye can see.
Donald Trump’s America.

Why do I get this sneaking feeling that the Epstein files are this Trump term’s version of the Mueller investigation - a huge hyped up thing that liberals hinge all their hopes on and turns out to have minimal to no effect on anything.

This is actually good spin, or would have been. But the fact that the Democratic cave happened without even a coordinated, agreed-upon message like this indicates the depth of the leadership void.

Any Democratic Senate candidate who pledges to boot Schumer the fuck out of leadership is probably giving themselves a 5-10 point advantage.
UPDATE — Here are the at least 10 congressional Democrats, 5 Democratic-aligned organizations, and 6 Democratic Senate candidates calling for Chuck Schumer to resign as leader:

Schumer may have voted no but people are tired of the DC dance.

✅ The 8 senators admit they kept him in the loop
✅ The 8 senators that voted yes are not up for reelection
✅ His No. 2 voted yes

We need a new politics with new faces for working people.

And Schumer. He either orchestrated it or has zero control of his caucus. He has to go.

The NYT/WaPo/Politico article writes itself: Mamdani Uses Same Authoritarian Tactics Democrats Decry in Trump
Interview she did with somebody (full one isn’t online afaict) where she says one of the things she’s gonna focus on as part of the transition team is finding unused authorities the mayor has, citing the president’s previously unused power to enforce of Made-in-America labeling rules as an example

We should seriously consider the possibility that the gates of hell were only wide open and spilling everywhere because they were waiting for Dick Cheney before closing.
🚨🚨🚨 The jury has reached a verdict. Sean Dunn, aka the DC Sandwich Guy, has been found NOT GUILTY of assault.

I think you could kick Schumer to curb just by hammering him on his total lack of support for Mamdani - you know, the super beloved firebrand with a national spotlight on him?
You know… if a DSA candidate in NYS wants to primary Chuck Schumer, now would be the time to start organising.

You may be successful…. 👀

“Off-year elections aren’t indicative of anything, except Mamdani winning is proof the Dem party is now communist…or something”
Mike Johnson: "What happened last night is blue states and blue cities voted blue. We all saw that coming. And no one should read too much into last night's election results."

Just my little Politics nerd brag that I've had my eye on Mayor-Elect Zohran Mamdani ever since 2020 when he defeated an incumbent Dem in the primary and went on to win his seat to represent AD36 as an Assemblymember. Was a proud endorsee of @socialists.nyc and @sanders.senate.gov even back then. 🥲
