Ugh, the whole "sidelined" thing. And not even necessarily a Force-wielder; guarantee you if Finn had gone on the Canto Bight mission with Poe (or any other man, or even 3PO I bet) instead of Rose, a lot of people would be singing a different tune

Just cried for a couple minutes over how Chewie is all alone at the end of the saga with just about everyone he loved for the last 30 years now dead. I haven’t cried over that in years. I gotta chill I can’t let myself start caring about Star Wars in that way again so quickly…

ALSO just imagine if the New Republic 2 leadership want Kylo Ren held accountable, so they send Finn & Rey to "hunt" him. So Finn's looking to bring him to justice and Rey to save her soulmate, leading to juicy conflict, exploration of atonement, Finn reflecting on his time as a Stormtrooper, etc.

It's just very telling the way certain people never mention Finn until they need to weaponize him against fans of Ben Solo.

If only both characters had been done justice (RIP Stormtrooper Rebellion plotline), perhaps we would be free.

He represents a way for the wound of his family’s generations of loss and heartbreak to be mended. Him and Rey together are a new path forward for the Skywalkers to be a happy, loving family. Ben’s return is everything.
