Is the event itself gonna accomplish anything? Probably not. But it is fun, and the libs are much more friendly to the idea of anarchists when they see them handing out water and letting them pet your dog. Plus it does seem to genuinely upset the fash, and that's always nice.

It’s free meals, eye exams, pet supplies, water, firewood, firearms training, first aid training, zines, mending, gardening, direct action, black bloc… it’s not politicians or clever signs. No RSVP, no membership card, no website, just do it.

The cruel, greedy, and powerful people are the ones writing those rules. Our basic instincts are to cooperate and help each other. How many times have you seen someone in desperate need only to force yourself from helping because you "can't" for any number of reasons?

I used to think like you. If you'd asked back in the day, I'd probably worded the same way. Here's the thing, you're imagining these 2000 people as a bubble with hard edges. That's not how it works in practice though. Communities are clouds that overlap with each other.
