Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

This image is a bit different than my usual "style," if that's even a thing. Much more minimalistic given the Snowy Owl sitting out in the field. Not sure how well this image translates to a smaller screen (phone, thumbnail, etc.) but thought I'd share it nonetheless. #wildlife #birds #owls

Yours truly tickling the lino.

Sounds rude but I stand by that turn of phrase. Also work in progress on a woodlouse lino carving.

As someone who has studied ancient woodland & ecology in Scotland for four decades, I am delighted by this news on Cumbernauld. Scotland’s ancient woodland is a national treasure to be conserved. And it reminds me of when I was young!

Stephen Fry is the definition of what an idiot thinks a clever person sounds like.
If you were wondering what "national treasure" Stephen Fry is up to these days, he's on far-right podcasts run by racists blaming the rise of fascism on the left.

Mr Shadow is a properly wild, old stray tom cat from the dark void (or one of the nearby farms) who visits us regularly.
He's now had to move in to get warm while feeling under the weather with his little snotty nose and wheezing.
Also happy Imbolc to you and your familiars!! 💜😺

Did you know that today is potato day in the sleepy village of Up Holland.
I did and I bought purple seed potatoes! Plus onion sets, tayberry bush, and other lovely veg for my garden.
One step closer to becoming Potatos the Potato Witch!

Three years goes fast!!! I miss Valerie, she had a super personality, tough little fighter she was 🥺💜🕊️

Valerie is a one eyed pidge who has been visiting me for about six months. When she first arrived she was half naked and her head was swollen so much I thought she'd never survive the weekend. I've been feeding her daily and here she is...

The landscape was covered in a thin coating of ice, so when the sun rose, I had intended to capture backlit sparkle on the foliage that grows along the shoreline of Vermilion Lakes. Instead, the frozen lake itself provided a beautiful bokeh in the background for a dreamy effect. 🫧

I've always found Elder trees to be places of comfort the smell of them instantly transports me back to my childhood. I spent many hours among them as a kid, plus the berries are delicious in jams!
In Irish folklore the Elder was feared and its magic often centred on threats to children...

It was once firmly believed that a crib made from Elder wood would invite disaster and that the fairies, whose dwelling had been disturbed, would sicken the baby...and in time steal the child away 🧚🏻‍♀️🔥

With most psychedelic drugs, you never know what you're going to get. But this mysterious mushroom from China - without fail - causes users to hallucinate tiny people: crawling up walls, popping out from under furniture and marching under doors. www.bbc.com/future/artic...

Only recently described by science, the mysterious mushrooms are found in different parts of the world, but they give people the same exact visions.
