Baltimore was energetic for its WNBA debut. Despite Caitlin Clark's absence, fans filled the arena, many wearing Mystics gear. Shakira Austin, a DMV native, contributed a key block as the Mystics won 83-77. Could the city support a #WNBA franchise?

There is an intriguing women's college basketball season ahead of us. With that in mind, a friend and I started a podcast to discuss the implications of the season ahead and our thoughts about UConn and Sarah Strong's passing prominence:

This. But as @pablo.show said in one of his latest episodes, it seems that everyone has a price that it would take to align themselves with these organizations. One thing that stands out about women’s basketball is that the speakers speak out on nearly everything.
the President of the WNBA Players Association aligning herself with a Saudi-backed women's basketball league -- amidst a crucial CBA negotiation -- kind of feels like hustling backwards

#UConn HC Geno Auriemma & star guard Azzi Fudd discussed a “standard” when visiting the Naval Academy. With the first women's Armed Forces Classic game, an ESPN broadcast & a title defense, it was more fruitful than imagined. My latest for PressBox:

Here at the Naval Academy’s Alumni Hall and Paige Bueckers is here two rows up from UConn’s bench. Azzi Fudd is returning to play close to where she grew up. Sarah Strong is the most physical player on the court and is an incredibly gifted point-forward.

I’m looking to call someone for an interview that I’m doing about education within the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools ending of mandatory busing. Specifically, someone who has worked in the CMS system or went to school during this era (1996-2000). If you know someone, please have them reach out to me

One can cite injuries, personnel, playing tough opponents, etc. — but it gets to a point where it gets hard to escape this one major explanation:

This is bad and undisciplined, and overall off-putting Ravens team to watch. Go garden your plants or volunteer on Sundays instead.

I’m in the process of reading 25 books this year and currently reading “Wise Blood” by Flannery O’Connor. I’m currently at 11 books for the year. Are there any recommendations that you all would like to give that are short stories — specifically Gothic heading into Halloween?

I’m a writer, I’m live in Baltimore, and I’m an English teacher. Through that lens — I wrote about how the Ravens defense over the first two games reflects the horrors (good and bad) of Gothic literature.

Baseball in Baltimore stems from a rich tradition. From the youth level, to high school college, and the pros — Black baseball is thriving in the city.

Black baseball is part of a rich and ongoing tradition in Baltimore. Here are the faces of its birth, life, and revival.

I’m going to write about Baltimore appearing in DC Comics as the hometown of Guy Gardener (Green Lantern) and Black Manta. Has anyone wrote about that yet!? We literally had a comic character from our city appear on the big screen in a Superman film!
Major cities just cannot be that attractive as places to live in the DCU or MCU given that they constantly get targeted by supervillains.

Just saw a post on The Other Site™ about how people now complain a ton when the cashiers talk to them. They don’t want small talk, but then the same people don’t want silence. But they don’t want cashiers replaced by machines, but they want more self-checkout that they don’t know how to use.
