Why are there 20 Common Models on sale which have been made too big for the common parking bays (and therefore reduce parking spaces available to other motorists - on our street turns bays that used to hold 4 into 3)?

Also well done to those five councils, need more to follow their examples.

So cheaping out on Electrification for the mainline means the regional fleet can't be all electric 🤬 (wires & battery), end result with more diesel trains likely 🤦‍♂️

Made me wonder how much UK land is used for "Biofuels" and how much would be needed for solar.

Didn't realise that batteries can basically be almost 100% made into new batteries at the end of their useful life either.
You are being misled about renewable energy technology.

48 minutes 😢

Best we get is days later "We aim to send an inspector to the site within the next 10 working days and you we will then update you with any intended action."

Which reminds me, need to report all of last years repairs on a nearby road/cycle route have failed *again* 🙄.
That’s very swift! I reported a defect in the public space at 10:42 and the repair team had it fixed at 11:30! This bollard made a terrible scraping metal noise going down and up. It’s quiet again now 🥳

Wonder if the construction hoardings will be down before the 10 year anniversary? 🎂

(Surprised the crane is still there over 4 years after construction ceased).

It's 2026, you shouldn't have to wait months to find out when an appointment is, even a vague November-December 2027 time frame that gets narrowed down as the dates near would be better than the current hearing nothing for months and wondering if it's fell between the cracks again...
Agree that behavioural science still has a lot of insight for governance. Uber's big innovation wasn't making the taxis arrive any faster, it was just reducing the uncertainty about when it would arrive. A simple tracker for your position on a NHS waiting list would reduce a lot of frustration
New post just out:

"Troubleshooters"

How fixing the many small frustrations - that make up most of our interactions with the state - can give people faith in goverment's ability to make things work.

And help create a different Whitehall culture.

Ooooh here's an idea - The BVG Jelbi app gives you free time using micro mobility when moving bikes to docked locations, so how about adding functionality to Ride (the East Midlands clone of it) which gives you credit (funded out of the fines) for reporting obstructive parking? 😈
An app that you can download onto your phone. Start the app, take a picture, location comes from the gps, report done in seconds.

Last day of term, first year of uni - went to student union end of term party.

Walking home with my flatmates we saw quiet a few blue lights going past.

Next day at work on lunch break heard on the radio that two people had been killed in a hit and run outside of uni.

To watch UK Horizons on the bedroom TV after playing on the Mega Drive you had toggle a dongle hanging out the TV from RF to TV, select Ch 7, go downstairs turn the Sky Box and decoder on, Select Sky 1 (Sky Ch8), press tuning up, then H/V select then TV/AV to turn the Channel expander on..

As an absolute minimum there should be a full, documented, feature complete, local API, and the device continues to function* with no cloud connectivity**, the latter of which should be optional (unless essential for core functionality -e.g. Media streaming player).
This should honestly be a legal requirement for discontinued products.
