MAGA folks I have argued with refuse to believe anyone's rights have been violated who didn't "deserve it", like bystanders should know better to be anywhere in the vicinity of ICE agents or they should follow instructions (stand back/don't film) given even when the instructions are unconstitutional

a couple of people have criticized this "but what if you do bad things with all that power" but like. look around you. the right has already grasped the power at hand and is using it. "republicans use the state to advance their goals; democrats unilaterally disarm" is not a sustainable equilibrium!

one thing that has been obvious for a while is this aspect of the authoritarian internationale: they recognize that their allies abroad are not *countries* but *political movements* within foreign countries.

the "energy drink substitutes" generally have calories (coffee has functionally none) and the zero sugar ones taste awful.

Oh, and they're all way, way more expensive than coffee, even at the higher price that coffee is at now.

the article is good but with this one line that is bad - "Coffee has basically no nutritional value and plenty of functional substitutes—walk into any gas station and you will see a wall full of energy drinks in every flavor, color, and chemical composition. We do not need coffee."

Democrats need to be able to win in places like OH/NE/IA to win the Senate and it's possible that a Democratic Party with more appeal to swing voters may have helped Sherrod Brown keep his seat in 2024
