This @royalpratt.bsky.social story is essential and horrifying: a 60-year old man with heart problems originally from El Salvador was issued a $130 ticket by ICE in Rogers Park for “not having his papers” proving his legal status on his person.

Okay somewhat decent news.
I actually only owe 3.3k in total and they said they're going to let the courts know I've made payments and we will reach on some kind of payment plan.
So still urgent but slightly less urgent

Yup, Black Women will get incorrect treatment because of this headass belief that their pain thresholds are higher than everyone else's.

During COVID's Debut, and the beginnings of the vaccine, there was a lot of discomfort in black people towards this because of the history Chantal speaks of.

Medical racism is a big reason why Black folks avoid the doctor. There are too many bad experiences with racist doctors & it develops distrust. Most of us have tales of medical racism. Then you get into community knowledge of all the times we were medical test subjects historically.

I don't know what's worse, the people who forgot about it entirely, or the (nonblack) people who say things with teary eyes like "George Floyd taught me racism was real." like Amadou Diallou, Michael Brown, Sandra Bland, and Trayvon Martin never existed. They faded away into the ash pit of history.
