There’s an important election happening this week in Tennessee. MAGA is fearful that flipping the 7th District seat could shrink their House majority to a zero-vote margin.

Being a writer is like surfing. Always hoping to catch the perfect wave, but most of your time will be spent paddling against the tide or just floating, waiting, eyes on the horizon while you watch other people riding their highs into the sunset. But you have to love the work more than the ride.

Been thinking about Matt today. It’s pretty unusual to create something like #horrorwriterschat that so many of us look forward to every week. Less than a handful of social media things I look forward to. I didn’t know Matt past that but how lucky we all are to have connected with him, if briefly.🖤
I'm very sad to share the news that our lovely @chaoticauthor.online has passed away. His ending was peaceful and surrounded with love but came far too quickly after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

I've known Matt for years. He was a warm, gentle, generous, all-weather friend. I miss him.

Shame on this once respected publication. This man is a cancerous tumor on the healthcare and scientific system of this nation. Any publication that does not start at sounding that level of alarm isn't worth the paper or pixels it's been printed on.

On seas of daffodil,
Fantastic sailors mingle,
And then— the wharf is still.

Yes! It’s easy to have a little alt text list or note saved for book covers, highly recommend. Include everyone when you talk about your work.
And a third tip (because nobody expects a third tip!)

You can keep a file with alt text for things you post often for ease of cutting and pasting also

I do this for all my book covers since I know I will be reposting those from time to time

Alt text is a kindness in a cruel world💜

I have neglected for several days to report that it is raining in LA. You may now respond, “we need it though” or the extended “not that I’m complaining cause we need it” so the cycle is complete.
Thank you.

If you order food online are you a chef? If you drive a car are you an engineer?
Make art. Write stories. Every decision that you make, YOU make about that piece is what makes you an artist, a writer. If you aren’t making those decisions, you’re just driving a car. Just ordering takeout.
Not to mention that Youtube and sites like Drawabox are very much free online resources to learn art at your pace. Any piece of paper and writing implement are good to go for traditional art anytime?
Art hasn't been this freely accessible in a long time, and they say we're gatekeeping???

Just wanted to post another reminder to consider getting a booster if you were born before 1990. Two doses weren't recommended before 1990, so you might want to check your records, or get a titer test, or get an MMR booster. In many states, pharmacists can administer vaccines on their own authority.
If community spread of measles continues until Jan 20th, the US will join Canada in losing its measles elimination status.

This is what happens when “you do you” individualism takes the place of public health.

Measles is disabling and deadly but it’s also preventable.

Get your vaccines
Measles outbreak in Arizona and Utah could spell the end for U.S. elimination status
With holiday travel and gatherings approaching, doctors worry that transmission could escalate further.
