After 8 months and over 26,000 stitches, I've finished my Blackwall romance cross stitch! This project had a lot of firsts for me, so I'm really proud of how it came out. I used metallic thread in the cloak, and the anchor glows in the dark!

Bad 😭 They had expectations for her that she did not live up to, and they were not shy about letting her know when she let them down. She thinks they don't even like her as a person, but she would still describe it as "complicated" because she hopes to earn their approval and affection someday

10"/25cm tall and crocheted from my own secret recipe I mean original design, it has crocheted "button" eyes, decorative visible mending, and is very huggable. Safe to wash/dry on delicate settings.

The owlbear's legs are kicked out at the sides so that its arms can rest between them, just like it sits in the game (BG3). The owlbear ami is a light/cerulean blue, with off-white yarn used for the foot pads, chest piece, face mask, and wings. The off-white yarn is all brushed out by hand (a seriously boring and annoying process, but I love the results) to make the yarn look furry—it's very soft. Each foot and paw has three pointed claws in medium brown, and the same brown is used on the crocheted button eyes (which have white Xs on them) and beak. The owlbear ami has three patches on its body: a light brown one on its chest fluff, a darker brown one on its left thigh, and a light blue one on its back. Along the seam of its head/ears is visible mending in white thread (decorative), and the same white thread is used to make tiny Xs from the top of its mask down to it's bottom. Stuffed firmly with poly-fil and sewn with love and an average amount of swearing. Whew. The same owlbear ami from the previous image, but turned so that the back and side are visible, showing off the patches and stitches.

Ilia grew up in the Chantry, so at the start, magic makes her nervous. She has an open mind though, and her opinion changes a lot as she learns from her mage friends and realizes the Chantry is not as infallible as she thought. By the end, she sees magic as a tool like any other.

Ilia starts out a very faithful Andrastian and ends up disillusioned. Deconstruction is rough on her. She knew the chantry needed reform, but it was worth reforming because she KNEW there was a Maker, and now she's just...not sure of anything. She doesn't feel free; she feels alone 😭

I recruited him late because I didn't realize he was going to be a companion, and I expected him to be kind of mid 😭 I liked his beard but I thought he seemed too old (😭) and boring (⁉️) for Ilia. Then he was so fucking charming that he derailed all my plans for the game (and the rest of my life tbh)

I've given Ilia the canon fear of spiders because I think it's cute that she has a big sword and isn't really afraid of anything except these little bug things. She just pretends she's not afraid until she has Thom, and then she lets him deal with them for her. 👇
