I am covering EVERY First Person Shooter EVER made in Japan.

From 1985 to 2025, that's over 40 years and 70 games of gaming history.

This was without a doubt the most ambitious video I've ever made.

Been thinking about what games may be up for Game of the Year and I just don't have a clear cut winner in mind. Blue Prince, Expedition 33, Silksong... All are genre defining experiences. I haven't even tried Hades 2 or DK Bananza yet. What a year!

Have you played anything recently that you feel deserves a special shout out?

I started Strange Antiquities the other day and both it and Strange Horticulture are such phenomenal games. I've never played anything else quite like it but the mystery and worldbuilding is intoxicating.

I need an article or video on how Tron Ares ever got made. Who wanted this? Who thought it deserved a budget on par with Marvel blockbusters??

Same! And maybe that's the counterpoint here. I'd be interested to see, if fans could all vote on a sequel to PW or GAA, which would win out.

Phoenix Wright. They tried doing Apollo Justice and immediately brought PW out of retirement in the next game. Despite fans clamoring for a PW7, none of the indie clone games seem to be taking off, even the really high quality ones.

I feel like Uncharted is pretty definitive proof that Tomb Raider can survive without Lara Croft though.

Congratulations on the launch!

I'm glad I'm replaying The Outer Worlds knowing what it is and, more importantly what it isn't. The game has its problems but it also has so much potential. I'm really hopeful for The Outer Worlds 2 when it comes out in a couple weeks.

I've been hoping to see a Starfinder cRPG for a while and I will gladly back it to hopefully get the full voice over!

Hey Sega... I won't forget. I never forget.
Jet the Hawk from Sonic Free Riders.

If only Sonic had a character associated with the color green... Too bad.
Vector the Crocodile crying with Charmy looking pointedly at the camera.

Ah yes, Amy. Famously associated with the color green. Perfect synergy here.
Sega's collaboration image with the Olympics where each color ring is associated with a Sonic character. Blue for Sonic, Yellow for Tails, Black for Shadow, Red for Knuckles, and Green for Amy.

It's crazy to me that people say Silksong is too hard but recommend Nine Sols. I got two of the endings of Silksong and couldn't get past the first serious boss in Nine Sols.

Marketing wisdom has always said "under promise and over deliver." TTRPGs seem to be forgetting that in favor of short term profits. I worry about will happen when they reap what they sow.
katosepe.bsky.social
Crowdfunding is absolutely vital to TTRPGs these days. Publishing costs are just too high and margins are too low to rely on anything else. But that means consumer trust is incredibly important to the continued health of the industry.

I know personally, I have reconsidered backing from these three companies because of how prior Kickstarters have gone, even though the end products have almost always been exceptional.

It will go up but likely not more than Coriolis got, which is crazy for a licensed property.

There have absolutely been other factors involved (Trump) but judging from comments on nearly every one of their kickstarters, delays hurt consumer trust.

Free League's Coriolis The Great Dark is a relative unknown property and made about $750k in US dollars. Invincible, which has a huge brand name behind it, has 11 days left and is sitting at less than half that number.

Companies like Hunters Entertainment and Ghostfire Games are seeing a pretty steady drop in repeat backers and I'd speculate this is a big reason why.

If I could give some advice to anyone starting a Kickstarter for TTRPGs, be really careful about your estimated ship date. People are getting REALLY tired of being burned by overly ambitious ship dates that are then missed, sometimes by years.

Life of a Showgirl was pretty good. The 2 and a half minute song about Kelce's dick is very, very funny. My first impression was I liked Eldest Daughter and Ruin the Friendship the best.

If you, like me, are replaying The Outer Worlds before the sequel drops, I do honestly think it's a better game on Hard difficulty. The game still isn't very hard but it at least makes sure obstacles feel like obstacles enough to make builds meaningful.

Excited for this game!
