Good god, what have we come to?
Trump suggests Khashoggi had it coming: "You're mentioning someone that was extremely controversial. A lot of people didn't like that gentleman that you're talking about. Whether you like him or didn't like him, things happen. But he knew nothing about it. You don't have to embarrass our guest."

Agree with this thread. Worth reading in full.

25 years ago John Roberts, Brett Kavanaugh, and AC Barrett all worked on GWBush's 2000 Florida recount team. What they're doing now is, if anything, more nakedly partisan.

Fire-breathing dissent by Kagan, with Sotomayor and Jackson.
They're not even trying to appear nonpartisan anymore.
#BREAKING: Over dissents from the three democratic appointees, #SCOTUS puts Texas's new House maps back into effect for (and, presumably, through) the 2026 midterms.

The three Democratic appointees, in an opinion by Justice Kagan, dissent.

I'll post the ruling shortly.

Agree: change is that the "institutionalists" have stopped pretending

-Thomas/Alito: They're the equivalent of "Trump +35" safe House district

-Gorsuch (in Garland seat) equiv of "Trump +22"

-But Kav, ACB, and mainly pious 'just call balls and strikes' Roberts wanted to be seen as open to facts
What's changed is that the Court has become more transparent in its corruption. There's not even an argument here beyond the implicit one which is: how do you expect us to hold the House without those seats?

Malone says that ACIP does not set policy. This is not entirely true. ACIP recommendations determine coverage for the Vaccines for Children program, which provides vaccines to un- and underinsured children in the US. States do set their own policies with regard to school mandates.

Also this slide is really bizarre. The birth dose of HBV vaccine is exclusively monovalent.

No rationale is offered with regard to blood-brain barrier, liver, and kidney function as relevant clinical considerations for HBV vaccination.

I don't even know what to say about this.

"• Even under the existing universal dose policy not all babies are vaccinated at birth with no detectable increase in incidence of HBV infections"

If only we had a comparison of incidence from before the universal birth dose was implemented.

I have no idea what is meant by "biological windows of vulnerability" here. The most important window of vulnerability here is the fact that 90+% of infants who contract HBV will develop a chronic infection that can cause cirrhosis, liver failure, and liver cancer.

This is an insane comment to make, given the secular trends in HBV incidence and the history of the policy.

This is not true. This is argument that pro-gun people use to discount red flag and waiting period laws. Ease of access and lethality (let alone cheerful instruction in the best method!) is the #1 predictor of attempts leading actual completion. The more barriers, the more people live.
I think it's fine Chat GPT is telling people how to kill themselves. They'll figure it out one way or another if they're serious.
