You can rip the Oxford comma out of my cold, dead, and decaying hands.
"Oxford commas are a sign you write with ai" I will find such a unique way to rip out your spine that they'll make a movie about it
Thank you so much!! ๐Ÿ’™

Oh my goodness O.o
I somehow managed to snap off part of our toilet seat while I was cleaning the toilet, so husband had to run out to get a new one ๐Ÿ˜… how's your Thursday going?
Back to normal tomorrow. My husband (still can't believe I finally get to call him that!!) goes back to work. Our honeymoon's not till December, so now it's time for a different countdown ๐Ÿ˜†

What should you include in your author bio? ๐Ÿ“

Sometimes authors write far too much โ€”ย or far too little โ€” in their query letter bios.

A solid author bio can be straightforward and succinct. It just needs three key elements:

5 days until the big day!! And we've had family drama TWICE in the past couple days!! I want to scream!!

Please let the rest of the week pass without anything else happening. I want to make it to my wedding day without wanting to pull my hair out.
Funny thing, she was originally just meant to be a villain for one of my fandoms that I used to do rp in. But eventually I took her & Mathius and decided to create a whole world & story for them. That's when I had a few general plot points for the story.

The Shadowhand ๐Ÿ’œโœจ

Posted this before there were any people on Bluesky, so let's bring the pretty boy Essek back once again. From 2023.

My MC for the "Light's Rebellion" series is Braelyn Hallowcloak, a young woman who just wants to know who her family is & if they're still alive. Her goals shift from book to book, but that main goal carries her through most of the series.
Q5: Tell us about your main character. Who are they? What do they want? #WeeknightWriters
#WeeknightWriters

I think I struggle with personalities the most? Sometimes I just find it really hard to make sure each character is unique/doesn't sound or act like another character. It's a balancing act, haha.
Q4: What aspects of character development do you find most frustrating? #WeeknightWriters
#WeeknightWriters

Maybe it's basic, but I really enjoy putting together the physical traits of characters. I like being able to visual them in my head, or even finding a popular character that reminds me of them (ex. when I think of Jace, I picture Ted Mosby from HIMYM with wizard robes ๐Ÿ˜…)
Q3: What aspects of character development do you enjoy most? What goes into making a character? #WeeknightWriters
#WeeknightWriters

It's hard to pick just one, but I'll go with the dynamics/relationships between the characters. More often than not, I'm more invested in a character who is doing something/being someone because of someone important to them.
Q2: What aspects of character development do you consider most important to your story planning process? #WeeknightWriters
#WeeknightWriters (yes I know I'm late)

My stories are usually built around the characters. It was definitely that way for Braelyn, as she's been living in my head since I was... about 16 or so (I'm 30 now). I had no idea what her full story was going to be until the past couple years.
Q1: Do you typically create characters to match the story you want to tell or build your stories based on character(s) already living in your head? #WeeknightWriters

#FantasyFictionFriday

Now that I think about it, "A Daughter's Hope" has several characters (not major) die within the opening chapters... ๐Ÿ˜… a part of me regrets it because of the emotion the events bring to the main characters, but a part of me doesn't regret it, if that makes sense.
Time for another #FantasyFictionFriday question for you fantasy writers out there! ๐Ÿง™โ€โ™‚๏ธ

Have you ever killed a character and regretted it? Why or why not?
