A couple weeks ago, I found myself with a broken car too expensive to fix so shopped for an EV. Can't tell you how thrilled I am with this #Nissan Ariya, a used 2023 model that feels new, is like driving a cloud, and wasn't that expensive. Amazing to charge the whole thing for 13 bucks at home! #EVs

Interesting….
Most people hear “heat pump” and think of small air-source units at home. But Germany is building one of the world’s largest heat pumps in Mannheim: a 162 MW river-source system using heat from the Rhine.

Big reminder that heat-pumps scale far beyond households — they can decarbonise whole cities.

Good morning, BlueSky! My 'Ann Folkard' geranium is still blooming, just like the Mariners baseball season. This is a great perennial to grow, in #Seattle or most zones. Have a lovely day! #gardening

This morning, I was stunned to see my yucca gloriosa blooming. It took 12 years! Love that raspberry color on the petals.

It's amazing how something so beautifully complex as a rose can be so common. Life truly is about stopping to smell the roses, or at least pausing to enjoy their beauty. Grateful for plants today.

This is great news! We have trees that had ivy during previous owners. It defoliated branches, which broke and fell. It's still a big problem. People don't know its dangers & nurseries still sell it. Now that's about to change. Yay!

Good news of the day...
The shade comes from solar panels, using that same relentless sunshine to generate energy. The sheep, in turn, cut down on mowing costs for the solar farm.
In Georgia, sheep on a solar farm is not a baaad idea
While often controversial, solar panels on farms in Georgia work out when you add a flock of sheep.

I'm re-posting this as I still have some irises and crocosmia left to give for free to #Seattle #gardening lovers.
Good morning, #Seattle! I have purple irises and orange crocosmia potted up and ready to give away. And have other kinds of perennials too. One hellebore left. If you like gardening and want free plants, let me know!

Does anyone else grow Madame Lemoine lilac? It's so strongly fragrant, when I put them in a vase, they flood the house with a heavenly sweet smell.

Happy Easter! Here's a hellebore I'd like to give away. Great for shade, blooms in early spring and the flowers last a long time. It only needs a little trimming in late winter. Let me know if you'd like it. I'm in the Seattle area. Cheers.

Nice. Gardening tip of the day!
Started protecting our hostas from slugs and snails with used coffee grounds. These were donated by Marriott Hotel in Mayfair, and would have otherwise ended up in a landfill.

A single tree can cool the air as much as 10 air conditioners running 20 hours a day, thanks to transpiration – nature’s own climate control system!

Ok gardeners, I gave #plants away this weekend to a grand total of 1 person. I was hoping to find more #PNW folks here so I don't have to resort to facebook. If you're in #Seattle and want perennials, let me know! I've got more. @tbtl.net
