They vowed to “Make America Healthy Again.”

Instead, they:

Kicked millions of people off health insurance

Closed hundreds of hospitals, nursing homes, and reproductive health clinics

Cut billions of dollars from science research

Fired government scientists and replaced them with antivaxxers

Final vote. 50-50. VP breaks the tie.

One single GOP Senator could have stopped this abomination. Saved millions of parents from watching their child go hungry. Saved the lives destroyed when Medicaid disappears.

They will all live forever with the horror of this bill.

Defeating Ohio’s Husted is now a key element in flipping the Senate.

A terrible candidate (boring, unintelligent, arrogant) with a terrible record.

Absolutely vulnerable in 2026.
So if I’m understanding this, Tillis said he couldn’t support the bill. Trump said he would choose one of Tillis’s primary opponents to support. And then Tillis announced his retirement. All in about a 24 hour period.

The Jewish community is still grappling with a shattered sense of security following the deadly antisemitic attack in DC, and now an incendiary device targeted a hostage awareness event in Bolder, CO.

Praying no lives were lost in this 2nd violent antisemitic attack in less than two weeks. Enough.

For any who do not know, the increases on the left were the end of the commitment to double the NIH budget over 10 years voted in by Congress following Newt Gingrich's leadership on this. Flatlining nominal dollars under the Bush administration onward led to gradual un-doubling of purchase power.
Check this chart.
Purple line: NIH actual budget (as passed by Congress) after 2000.
This is in real (inflation-adjusted) dollars.

The Trump/Vought proposal for 2026 (yellow) is catastrophic, for US science and medical cures for Americans. That's a massive drop.

Read this first, then read this piece from an anonymous NIH employee at @donmoyn.bsky.social's Substack. Everything falling into place for Congress to go through rescission to make NIH cuts in a way that's both more politically palatable and more enduring.

The sad truth is, Biden's policies made people economically comfortable enough that people simply didn't have to think about the ways the government was helping them, leading to culture war dominating the news cycle. It's a constant problem for Dems and not an easy one to solve.

Correct. NIH, and the cancer and other medical cures it generates, is being burned to the ground.

And we’d add: with that goes the whole US tech and biotech economy. Silicon Valley is in the US not elsewhere because of NSF, ARPA, NIH.

That word isn’t getting out widely.
This is a big deal. Spread the word. But it’s tiny compared to the totality of what’s happening at NIH. Cure Research for all cancers, Alzheimer’s, everything is being gutted. Intentionally. It’s all getting burned to the ground but the news isn’t getting out. The new cures won’t be there for you.
I would be making a big deal out of this if I were an elected Democrat

We've heard concerning things about the Social Security Administration lately, so I decided to check for myself.

SSA says Wednesday is the best day to call, so I called then.

Their system told me there would be a two-hour wait time, told me to call back, and then just hung up.

Here’s Elon cutting pediatric brain cancer research 👇🏻
This is horrible to post, but I may as well post it. We are essentially shutting down research operations in my group, which is focused on treatments for pediatric brain cancer. I’m a well funded investigator, and there’s no choice. Science can’t function without the stability of NIH
