"The old world is dying, and the new world struggles to be born; now is the time of monsters." Canadian from Northern Ontario. Democratic socialist. Under-caffeinated and over-opinionated. All views are my own. My shitty little site: thegroundbreaker.ca

It's just occurred to me that I never actually introduced myself on Bluesky.

- I am a 30 year Caucasian male living in Northern Ontario, Canada. 🇨🇦
- I read voraciously, and write when the caffeine level is right.
- I am a social democratic who believes in economic justice and a fairer society. 1/?

The AWS outage exposes again that “the cloud” isn’t magic, it’s infrastructure. The issue isn’t a cyberattack, it’s architectural over-reliance on a handful of cloud giants. We centralized the internet and then made our entire lives dependent on it.

Fuckin AWS.
Would be great if we didn't centralize massive portions of internet infrastructure under Amazon.

That being said, I feel for the nameless admins at AWS who must be shitting themselves right now.
New Blog Post! 🎉

In our darkest times, one person’s refusal to accept injustice can spark a movement. Read how a single grapefruit in an Irish department store helped the anti-apartheid movement— and why that matters for us in Northern Ontario too.

Holding the Spark: Hope in Dark Times
There are moments in history when the world feels heavy. When injustices seem too large to tackle, when power is too entrenched, and change seems impossibly far away. In those moments, hope can fee…

Isn't it an interesting coincidence that the most vocal of warpigs are those wearing suits and who will never actually face any frontline.

Talk big shit, you should be the first one off the fucking deployment plane then, dipshit.

Northern Ontario need strong colleges to build a stronger Ontarian economy.

Support our colleges, support the support staff strikes, demand increased public funding and put pressure to power!

I believe in Ontario! ✊️
Just sent the first out of many protest emails to my MPP George Pirie in three daily impact waves, demanding that he take a stand for college education in Northern Ontario.

We know more layoffs, cuts, and even campus closures are coming - and they will devastate Northern Ont.

It's do or die now.

The dispute at Canada Post is more than just a labour dispute between a company that has fallen on hard times and a union intent on defending its members jobs. It is so much more, and one that is vital to understand. A short thread.
The only reason why Disney reset their decision on Kimmel is because the boycott hit both Disney+, their parks and their cruiselines to the tune of billions.

This isn't because they grew a set of morals - only to protect their capital.

Do not thank Disney for their stance.
Starve the House of Mouse.
Don't just cancel Disney+, folks.

Boycott their cruises, parks and everything else. Create a pressure campaign to get actors on their films and shows (looking at the Marvel folks) to speak out against Disney and ABC.

In a capitalist society, going after the wallet works very, very well.
Notice how fast and with little resistance, that capital in the U.S folded to fascism? Almost like they were waiting for the invitation to drop the mask.

Turns out in America, freedom and democracy were only marketing slogans after all.
All power to the striking OPSEU College Support union members in Ontario Colleges! ✊️

Fight the starvation budgets of public education in Ontario!

You can and should voice opposition to political violence, but I did not vote for a government to give a standing ovation to a white supremacist in our House.
Charlie Kirk's death was a tragedy.
But he built his name on provocation and white supremacy.
He said that gun deaths of innocents was "worth it."
On Mark Carney's first day as PM in Parliament Liberals gave Kirk a standing ovation.
Ceding ground to extremism won't make them nicer.
At Christie Pits of all places — @charlieangus104.bsky.social is right. Corporate media framing this like “two competing immigration rallies in debate” is manufacturing consent in real time.

This is why I support independent journalism, not corporate news.

This is classic CDN media misrepresentation.
What went down at Christie Pits wasn't two sides of the same issue.
This was a hate rally demanding mass deportations against people who live in Toronto. It was a fascist hate gathering.
They were countered by people standing up for their neighbours.
