Hello and thanks to new followers!

What to expect from me:

Most of my posts are thoughts formed at the intersection of Christian faith and public life.

I’m here for dialogue, friendship & laughs

Not here to argue, exclude or facilitate bullying

Grace & peace 💛💛💛

The president says he doesn’t think he’ll make it to heaven. His son thinks you can earn your way there.

Of all the Christian Nationalist absurdities, none are so acute as elevating a man to evangelical messiah status while utterly failing to reach his family with the gospel.

Possibly fake, but for sure conservative Evangelicals I know have made very similar arguments

I did just find out it’s Missouri Synod for whatever that’s worth

Not sure. Saw the image shared in my feed.

But they can’t understand
why so many young people
are deconstructing their faith

The way of Jesus has never been conquest.

The way of Columbus was anti-Christ.

Christians should be at the forefront of the decolonization movement.

Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day!

That has been my experience. Being with people, accompanying them in their distress etc is great fuel for the Sunday message

Hot take: pastors should spend more time with people and less time preparing sermons.

There is such a thing as toxic centrism. I absolutely believe both sides of the political aisle have issues to work on, but they are not equally problematic. Pretending they are is a convenient way to ignore reality while claiming the moral high ground.

I’ve spoken to so many people of various backgrounds, faith traditions and perspectives. I’m pretty sure most of us inherently know what love is and the difference between right and wrong. It’s just that some of us unlearn these things as a result of pain and toxic conditioning.

Christian nationalism expressly commands its followers to hate, judge, and condemn — in the name of a man who went to his death rather than hurt even a Roman soldier.

Instead of seeking the Shalom of our neighbors, Christian Nationalism demands we lord over them, something Jesus expressly commanded his followers not to do.

When Christian Nationalism imagines greatness it thinks of power and domination

When Jesus imagines greatness he thinks of humility and service

Sharing the love of Jesus
and spreading Christianity
are often two very different things

I happen to think the fact that emergency departments will treat everyone including the unhoused and undocumented is one of the most truly Christian things we do in America.

Nothing is wrong with being white.

Everything is wrong with demanding the centralization of whiteness in society.

I find it sad that our president doesn’t mind being racist. I find it absolutely heartbreaking that a large percentage of our country doesn’t mind either.

As far as I’m concerned it’s yours 😊

Christian-ist is a great term. Haven’t heard that one.
justinberkobien.bsky.social
The term Christian refers to a person who seeks the power to impose their culture and values on society

The term Christian also refers to a person who tries to model their life after the lowly way of Jesus

We would all be wise to recognize these two are really not the same
