Gamers have such incredibly unreasonable demands of indies it's sort of a wonder anything gets made at all.

This. But also, remember that passion alone doesn't pay the bills. Most indies underprice their games, are ignored by algorithms, undersold, some even unfairly blocked from selling... So check that your money actually moves in the direction you want people surviving and making things.

OK, I've played Deep Space Exploitation, having finished it a second time, and once more, I am finding myself deeply engaged in the gameplay, but also the subtle, deeper stories.
