Read it all. From one small section:

Shortly after a man fired >500 rounds at CDC and killed a cop, the staff that safeguard employee, facility, and data security are gone. And the Office of Strategic Business Initiatives, that trains and supports risk management across the entire agency, is gone.

Beyond that, the CDC will not be able to function administratively, as the Office of Safety, Security, and Asset Management (OSSAM) office, which safeguards employee, facility, and data security at CDC lost its entire Occupational Health and Safety Office. Barely two months after a gunman shot more than 500 rounds at CDC and killed a police officer, the office devoted to employee safety has been The Workplace Health Office was also RIFed, as was the Office of Strategic Business Initiatives, which is charged with training and supporting risk management across the entire agency. Not only have the CDC employees been terminated, but the ones who remain will be forced to function within an organization that has eliminated mechanisms for looking after their well-being, safety, and ability to effectively do their jobs to carry out the CDC mission.

4) I find the "uniformity of thought" critique simplistic. How does this operate in engineering, the natural sciences, computer science, and business, the fields which most students study? I don't think it is a fair critique of how the humanities and social sciences operate either./4

Most of this laundry list of "overwhelming evidence" is tendentious. Let's go through them.
1) A big driver of high costs at public universities has been a decrease in state appropriations. Many public schools have been forced to act on a public/private model as a result..../1

The evidence is overwhelming: outrageous costs and prolonged indebtedness for students; poor outcomes, with too many students left unable to find meaningful work after graduating; some talented domestic students and scholars have been crowded out of enrollment and employment opportunities by international students; and a high degree of uniformity of thought among faculty members and administrators, which can result in a hostile environment for students with different ideas.

Now an autopsy reportedly concludes that he suffered extensive blunt force trauma across his body before he died, meaning he was beaten before he was lynched.

Robot personhood / rights is a sci-fi trope because it’s an obvious way to do a story about prejudice against other humans, but I wonder if it’s created a cultural expectation that this *has* to be a debate once you’ve invented robots you can talk to

Teaching to tests. We've made standardized tests high-stakes not just for students, but for teachers and districts. Tests require analysis of texts up to a couple paragraphs, so that's what students get trained on in English classes. Another depressing example of the effectiveness of incentives.

This is one of the great failures of Anthropology post, say, 1987. Through the obsessive policing of anything biological, "positivist," or universalizing, we've opened the discourse to people with right-wing agendas to project whatever hideous vision of human nature suits their political ends.
