I have no energy for bad faith trolls and the "I'm critical of everyone's actions and beliefs, but never my own" crowd: y'all need therapy.

For those who have been following along on the Copilot thing, @bschorr.bsky.social reached out to me in DMs and has been very sincere in his desire to help, and we’ve been having a very constructive and productive conversation.

After spending more than an hour on the phone with Microsoft Support, I have learned:

1. It is impossible to disable Copilot in OneNote, Excel, PowerPoint, or Windows itself.
2. It will not become possible to do so for another month AT THE EARLIEST.
(1/?)
Anyone know how to disable Copilot in OneNote? There's no tickybox for it in the "Options" page, I already turned off "online experiences" or whatever, and when I tried uninstalling the Copilot app, the only change seems to be that I no longer have an "uninstall" option on the Copilot app.

“Don’t feed the trolls” also extends to bad opinion pieces in papers of record.

They run them bc people react to them the most.

If we stop linking to bad columns and instead post thinkers we find valuable (& generate convo around it), incentives change.

It’s not easy and takes constant practice!

These losers do this because their only shot at companionship is a hostage situation, so they spend all day harassing people into thinking a woman’s self worth should resemble their own.

If they tried being kind and not approaching every relationship as a transaction, they would be much happier

I don't envy John Harbaugh.

Cutting arguably the best kicker ever would be a tough call to make. But losing a playoff game, or even a game that determines playoff seeding, because the best kicker ever is unreliable would be a brutal twist.

Paycor Stadium starting to clear out after a strip sack that leads to a TD for PIT's Payton Wilson.

Bengals down 41-24 with 11:06 left and that might be curtains on the team's playoff chances for 2024.

And where reputable journalists and thinkers go, so do elected officials.

I’ve been getting asked lately about a more serious + systemic migration to Bluesky among electeds.

Idk the answer but it highlights how much of a breaking point misinfo & throttling has become for Twitter(& other platforms)

We have 6% of the followers here compared to the 100k in X. The vite 6.0 announcement in bluesky already got half the reposts and a third of the likes. And most of the comments and quotes from OSS maintainers happened here. I don't know about other communities, but OSS web dev is a bluesky game now.

Not even a speck of self-awareness from billionaires trying to copy one feature or another from @bsky.app .

They don't understand that it's not the feature set we came here for, but the lack of oligarch ownership. Can you do that, Threads?
Bluesky is truly having an incredible run as Threads' head of product

It seems like we are a democracy careening towards fascism, when the reality is they're using the specter of fascism to keep us on edge while they turn America into a compliant oligarchy.

Whether you are a democrat or republican, we have a common foe.

Some of us just don't know it yet.
