Shout out to the top 5 kings in the world, Martin Luther, Larry, Don, Stephen and Americans don't have a motherfuckin'.
Been a while. I've been heads-down at the desk, and finished the revisions and the proofread of the debut novelette. On schedule for releasing this year. Now also going through the drafts for next year's novellas. Busy! More stuff soon. 👋
Sneaker! Hang in there dude, we've never met but you're a cat. I am sure I met your great uncle or something one time. Close enough.

Me! From appreciation of your tomato advice! And your overall awesomeness quotient.
Just received the notes from a Development Editor, I'm excited to start the next revision. An excellent editor is like an excellent music teacher: an excellent coach, and someone on your side to help you get to where you want to go.

The notes, by the way, are fantastic. Sharpening pencils now.
Don't stop. When you get the "yes" it will be the right "yes".
Now, I don't look at it for 1, 2 weeks and then revise and edit in phases with fresh eyes. This takes as long as it takes—weeks and weeks. Each revision has 1 goal, so I'm not overwhelmed. Then, and only then, will I ask others to read (except a dev editor during the process). 2/2
About that draft. I had my chapters, scenes and beats worked out beforehand. That changed a little as I wrote. About 4 weeks of work to complete, about 40k words. I hated the thing until chap 7, when it began to feel good. Power through, finish! No one sees it but me. 1/2
Phew. The draft of the follow-up to "The Frost Emerald Affair" (debut book!) is done. Novella length, 11 chapters! Next? I don't look at it for a week or two, then start the first revision. It's for a 2026 release, but time flies, and I expect a zillion revisions, so.... work work work work work!
Fried pickles are incredible. So addictive that the potato chips have resigned in protest.
San Francisco is just not cold and windy enough for July. It hit 60 today. A scorcher.
I'll tell you what: being a fast draft writer means a ton of revisions and edits afterwards: but as I get to the tail-end of the revision cycle, the story really starts to feel great and read well. Very much like music production process or software dev.

I'm starting to feel proud of this work!
Revision 12 of the story is done. 21k words, 3 acts. Good job, now take the rest of the minute off.
So true. Persistence, persistence, persistence.

You know the advice 'just keep writing'? It can be hard to hear, but it's true. I had no clue what I was doing in 2016 but I learned from my (many) mistakes and kept writing.
It might take years, the wins might be small, but your readers are out there. Don't give up.

Last night I dreamt that Tharks were invading Los Angeles. I haven't read any John Carter of Mars stories since I was a kid. What the hell, subconscious, what are you trying to tell me?

If you like RPGs or funny sci-fi fantasy stories with some over the top gore this is the book for you!
Dungeon Crawler Carl is ludicrous to the point of making you laugh out loud and gross enough to make you want to make others read it in the “Does this smell bad to you?” kind of way.
Nice bit of automatic editing there!! 😂
