Are those Zach's beautiful eyes or can he not see inside that thing at all?

He's got my vote
As the guy who's been shouting into the wind against immigration restriction for 10 years, my new fantasy is to be an anti version of Steve Miller. I convince a president to send gov't employees into neighborhoods to set up welcome centers with language/employment services.

Super-gay being a gender instead of a sexual identity is where I draw the line, madam!

Separately against each individual attack from an unexpected direction, uncoordinated and unsupported.

I like the implication that it might be stanzas rather than paragraphs.

We face threats from our administrators, state & federal funding, legal challenges, students or their parents, the press. The rules change from state to state too, for unionizing, funding, etc. & smaller universities like mine have different challenges than the big universities relying on grants.

Your preaching to the choir here. The faculty at my university are unionized. But we have more than 750 four-year universities in the U.S. and even more 2-year community colleges, all publicly funded at the state and federal level. We are spread out over 9 mil. square km. Attacks are unpredictable.

We aren't organized enough to have a plan. Not yet, at least.

We all feel targeted.
January 8, 2026 at 3:24 PM
The faculty are fighting for their livelihoods, for their whole institutions to survive. Nobody is coming to help them. I say this as a professor at a liberal arts university in Oregon (arguably one of the safest states to be in the culture war). We are the deer in the headlights right now.

I believe it! I wrote my novel in two months (summer, yay!) but the editing and beta-reading has taken over a year. :( On my last edit, hopefully.

I'm 50 this year and will self publish my first novel very soon. Two more novels in the works. I'd aspire to your output but three kids and my professor job slow the process.

The Good Place nailed their ending. You can safely watch all four seasons, IMO.

The Trump administration is shutting NASA's Goddard library down today and things will be archived in a warehouse or "thrown away."

Much of this material is literally irreplaceable.

Perhaps related to the attribution error? We often identify others as having traits and ourselves as subject to circumstance.

As a social scientist, I have to address just how right you are. It drives me bonkers how bad we write in our discipline in order to seem scientific. Often, this is done in defiance of APA writing guidelines! I tell every academic writing student I teach they can write better than the professionals.

Ooo, my 7 year old and 11 year old are both bound to be prodigies in something for the same reason.
