I hear you, and: hope, change, etc is non-linear and multi-faceted. I guarantee that the world looks a little bit different to a whole bunch of first year grad students taking notes on scientific activism (it looks different to me, too).

Sometimes the world doesn't want to change. It's frustrating, but imagine how you'd feel if you hadn't tried.

Plus a couple of months ago someone told me they started a PhD because of the March for Science. Sometimes the impact from these things isn't what you expect and takes time

SHOOT! forgot my disclaimer lol: i am NOT a spokesperson for stand up for science and haven’t been affiliated at all. Was ONLY helping organize last year’s march 7 rallies*
January 30, 2026 at 6:43 PM
it’s been almost a year since I reached out to @jonathanberman.bsky.social about organizing last year’s March 7 stand up for science rallies and I really wish I could reflect back and be proud. i used nearly all the resources i had, every connection, all the energy, and not much has changed
How does one organize a March for Science that also features effective post-March plans

🚨 New from me: Grant review at more than half of NIH's institutes could be frozen by the end of the year.

That's because crucial NIH grant-review panels are slated to be empty at those institutes by Jan 2027.

A wonky bureaucratic problem with big implications.

A short 🧵
Exclusive: key NIH review panels due to lose all members by the end of 2026
Thirteen of the agency’s advisory councils, which must review grant applications before funding is awarded, are on track to have no voting members.
