My latest long read: Jeff Kent is a serial conman who bilks vulnerable women out of their money. He’s the first fraudster in Canadian history to be deemed a dangerous offender and locked up indefinitely.

He’s also someone who used to regularly call me from jail

Jeff Kent is a serial conman who defrauds women. Does he deserve the harshest punishment in Canadian criminal law?
Jeff Kent is a romance fraudster who bilks women out of their life savings. An Alberta judge just deemed him a dangerous offender.

Aw now I’m thinking about this again too :(
Just hit me like a ton of bricks that with the death of Garth Hudson in January, all five members of the Band are gone.
It’s about that time

Checked and this fake Beaverton quote from the U.S. ambassador threatening to blow up parliament hill had been on Time's website, uncorrected, for over a month. Suuuuuuuper embarrassing.
When your ambassador is SO deranged that Time Magazine says, "Yeah, that quote sounds real".

The B.C. and Alberta premiers seem to have very different understandings of whether there's a veto in this MOU, which seems less than ideal
Premier David Eby, speaking now, cites PM Carney's comments from earlier this week that pipeline would have to have agreement from B.C. and First Nations.

"This project does not have the support of Coastal First Nations," he says. Adds no proponent, no route, no money.

Really nightmarish Edmonton case: a woman's home was broken into. She was forced to give up her phone PW, then killed and stuffed in a car that was later lit on fire.

Despite evidence at least one man was paid to do this, no one was found guilty of murder.

This is a wild, wild read about how hopelessly dated the U.S. notion of the "poverty line" is. It's "three times the cost of a minimum food diet in 1963, adjusted for inflation." That's it!
