Clients' flexibility with regards to scheduling, etc. tends to be directly, not inversely, proportional to how well they pay. Don't expect anyone asking for a death march to make it worth your while; if they meant to pay you like a person, they'd treat you like one.
To my fellow translators: what do you wish someone had taught you about translation (whether the act or translation or having a freelance job) that you had to learn by yourself?

Whenever you see a post on Reddit like "Can anyone ID this fighting game character I saw once and what game they're from? I think they have an attack that looks like this crude MS Paint drawing," they *always* turn out to be a GBVSR character that gets correctly identified in less than a minute

Instagram is serving me ads for a fancy hardcover edition of the First Law trilogy, and as nice as it looks, we gotta cool it on the handsome Gloktas. I know we need our blorbos and babygirls but the books are very clear that Sand dan Glokta is a toothless incontinent who looks damn near eighty

Ok, so the Traveller 5e news is… well it’s whatever. Not really worth getting too exercised about I’d say about BUT thanks to looking up previous d20 iterations of Traveller my life has been #blessed to discover what may be hands down the single greatest piece of RPG art I’ve ever seen.

in my own experience only, as LLMs get “better,” all I am seeing is the production of texts that are just as wrong as they ever were, in ways that are just as fatally bad, but which now appear more consistently plausible to someone who doesn’t know what they’re talking about
