I'm wearing a plain white T-Shirt & plain black jogging bottoms, both from Primarni. I've Just finished reading American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis. Quite different to the film, which believe it or not, is actually tame in comparison to the novel in terms of absolute unhinged bloodlust.

Hay On Wye, famous as the town of books & The Hay Festival. Not sure how many bookshops it has these days but everywhere you turn, books! Even if only a bookshelf with an honesty box down an alleyway. I can recall buying Last Edit To Brooklyn by Hubert Selby Jnr. here amongst others.

Beautiful words

"This knowledge in unknowing
Is so overwhelming
That wise men disputing
Can never overthrow it,
For their knowledge does not reach
To the understanding of not understanding,
Transcending all knowledge."

If you've ever delved into Theosophy you'll have heard of Lemuria. Originally proposed in 1864 by zoologist Philip Sclater to explain why lemurs lived in Madagascar & India. Blavatsky later claimed it was home to the 3rd evolutionary root race, the Lemurians in her esoteric writings. Map by Haeckal

Been looking at old maps today, for centuries a hypothetical continent known as Terra Australis was included on maps. Ancient Greek geographers thought that continental land in the Northern Hemisphere should be balanced by land in the Southern Hemisphere. Until Tasman, Cook etc proved otherwise.

Google lens brings up a log of Scaly Earthball, a stomach fungi, but the cracked cap also resembles Hazel Bolete. So again, unsure. 🍄

Or perhaps it's this one that's Hairy Bracket, it is after all...hairy.
Also looks a bit like Hairy Curtain crust (dodgy name) from the picture I'm looking at. Not easy this identification malarkey. Give us a hand if you know.

"Ur-Fascism is still around us, sometimes in plainclothes. It would be so much easier, for us, if there appeared on the world scene somebody saying, “I want to reopen Auschwitz, I want the Black Shirts to parade again in the Italian squares.” Life is not that simple." - Umberto Eco.

Fascism is inherently anti-science as it rejects truths that contradict its ideology, eg. climate change, and restricts science to serve the state. Such as using it in a distorted way to promote racialism or serve military objectives.

More lovely books arrived. Just finished Super-Frog in around 30 minutes. Beautifully illustrated, Kafkaesque surrealism. So glad I've discovered Murakami. Strange pictures is for my daughter but I'm not sure I can wait until after Xmas to nab it and read it for myself. 🤤

Spent the early hours of the morning searching up Japanese fiction to buy for my Daughter as a Christmas present as she has an affinity for Japan, found myself intrigued and ended up downloading a load for kindle & ordering 2 Haruki Murakami books for myself. I did get her a couple though. 😂
