When the concept of VAR was first mooted I liked the idea of experts with technology to advise on terrible decisions. It seemed unfair to refs that they had a split second and maybe a bad angle, while millions at home saw instant replays.

But how can VAR, and assistant VARS, be this bad/mad? 🧵
