Just here to appreciate beautiful photos, funny jokes, and ignore the world on fire for a bit.
Being in my 40s and trying to take up running again, my entire body is rebelling and grilling me with this question:
a man standing next to a black car with the words why are you running

@ghostsintheburbs.bsky.social listening to Thea right now, and I have to say, the stress and anxiety added by family is really well done. Very real.

@gralefrit.bsky.social You have to see these! A friend of mine has been collating a series of images entitled "Things my students have written turned into Philomena Cunk quotes" and they're just glorious.

I'm still here and around, still scrolling daily. I appreciate all of you whom I follow; your posts make the days easier.

As an engineer in the energy space, it's sometimes quite discouraging. So on those days, I rely on spite and anger to get me through. Most days, though, I'm driven by optimism.

I just realized, I haven’t had a 7Up since the 90s, when they had the “Up Yours” ad campaign.

Sometimes, the Moon passes directly in front of the beautiful Pleiades star cluster in a celestial event called an occultation! This composite image from Spain captures the Moon's visit. These monthly occultations last until 2029, then not again until 2042!

"Reciprocal" means it's the same on the other side. It's not "reciprocal", it's unilateral. Yes, "reciprocal" is a direct quote from him, using headlines with it has implications that sane-washes what he's doing.

Don't know why I'm dismayed, this has been the way it's been done for months now.

I unironically enjoy 99% of UK cuisine like haggis, eel pie, shepherd’s pie, fish and chips, etc. but I just can’t wrap my head around betraying my family for Turkish Delight. That shit tastes like mushy Valentine’s Candy Hearts.

@nordvpnofficial.bsky.social The fact that I get pop-up and notification ads after I've paid for an account is galling. That alone made me remove the auto-subscription feature, and will not be renewing after my current period ends.

Will solar PV soon be the cheapest source of electricity in most places around the world? This @naturecomms.bsky.social paper says yes.

Most surprisingly this is AFTER including short- and long-term storage costs for renewable energy sources.
