2026 keeps making me tap the sign
Oh no not this storied institution that … has only existed for 25 years due to an overreach by the federal government in the wake of a national tragedy

Just got back from seeing MELANIA for the second time. It's amazing all the things you notice on repeat viewing (especially after you learn the dinosaur twist)

I'm reiterating what other Minnesotans are saying: no matter what the news is reporting, nothing has tangibly changed on the ground. ICE is still out patrolling the streets, they're still looking for people to abduct, and they're still threatening observers. Do not let up the pressure.

Amazon has eliminated 30,000 jobs in the past three months (despite making a profit of $42 billion over the past two quarters) because it needs to invest $125 billion to build AI data centers, plus more to automate its warehouses, so it can eliminate thousands more jobs.

This is peak capitalism.

After being held in two of them as a boy, I fought for decades urging America to never again build concentration camps and put human beings in them. It breaks my heart to watch this happen twice now in my own lifetime.

My not-so-hot take is that American brains started* cooking when cable outlets turned news into entertainment by favoring commentary over reporting

We profiled refugees who:

Arrived in the country legally.

Applied for green cards.

Were arrested by ICE and detained.

One refugee who was arrested found out they got their green card after being released.

This is an unprecedented operation.

Last week in Minnesota, I watched ordinary people risk their lives to protect their neighbors. In the process, they not only won a significant—though not final—victory against authoritarianism, they proved virtually every MAGA social theory wrong. (gift link) www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

We must defend the status quo at any cost! Even if we have to make the status quo worse we will defend it with at least a portion of our lives!
We’re seeing a lot of the same dynamic nationally that happened here in MN post-George Floyd murder. The mass outcry across the world led to justice promised- then in time that was consciously morphed into a lot of toothless “reforms” that were easily ignored. Defund became extra-fund! (as you know)

If I'd gone into a coma on Jan. 6 (the day before Renee Good was murdered), and I woke up this morning, and you told me that Trump was sending Tom Homan to Minnesota, and it was intended as a moderating, calming move...let's just say I'd have questions.

Narcissists want to be liked. Hard to feel you are liked once it becomes obvious everyone hates you.
Feels like Trump is pretty much unconditionally surrendering as support collapses

I went on a budget plan last year to spread the winter gas costs throughout the year. Keeping the house 2 degrees cooler (66 during the day, 62 overnight) we've already blown through our summer surplus and I had to pay an extra $50 last month.
Apparently our electricity bills are going through the roof and this is partly related to data centers that hog huge amounts of electricity to generate information. I, for one, feel hopping mad about this. The companies that are using the data centers should bear the cost.

CAUTION PSA: This is what happens when you try to clean your ears with a hand mixer.
Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) The anti-ICE protesters are paid, people in Minnesota are really happy ICE is there. The protesters are liberal media, Nazis, anarchists, communists, people who hate the flag, God, veterans, capitalism and democracy! Woke-a-topia!

If you call us bloodthirsty thugs who will gun Americans down in the street we have no choice but to do it!
Bovino: "When politicians, community leaders, & some journalists engage in that heated rhetoric we keep talking about, when they make the choice to vilify law enforcement calling law enforcement 'Gestapo' or using the term 'kidnapping,' that is a choice & there are actions & consequences."
