I wrote about why Nicole Kidman, and lots of other great midlife actresses, are having a moment on TV. (Let's hope it's longer than a moment.) ministryofpopculture.substack.com/p/the-menopa...

How embracing the menopausal years is giving some of our greatest actresses the best roles of their lives on the small screen. And how we can still do better.

Watching the lovely "His Three Daughters" unexpectedly reminded me of my own family history with a complicated, beloved elder, in the very same Lower East Side building complex from the movie. My piece @ministrypopculture.bsky.social @carriecoon.bsky.social @natashalyonne.bsky.social
@saulausterlitz.bsky.social tells a poignant story of how watching Netflix’s #HisThreeDaughters led him to rediscover his complicated history about his family in New York.

Honestly, "Snitch unlikely to get paid due to same sorts of labyrinthine rules that healthcare companies use to avoid paying for medical care" is about the most American story that could come out of this.

I'm getting this ominous sense that our dystopian Cyberpunk future draws ever closer.

The @nytimes.com was smart enough to list Emily Nussbaum's CUE THE SUN in its Notable Books of the Year, and kind enough to mention When Women Invented Television just beneath it, and Emily said nice things about it! A good day on the internet for me and my ladies.
Incidentally, you should 100% read the book listed beneath that review –Jennifer Keishin Armstrong’s When Women Invented Television is a jaw-dropping, sharply written, wildly entertaining non-fiction account of an largely unknown period in cultural history. I LOVED the book & learned a ton from it
