I don't hate Joe Buck as much as people seem to think I should, but I do love that time he got hit by a whole freaking pizza.

Consider getting mp3s from bandcamp.com where indie artists actually get a solid share of the revenue. If you do this on Bandcamp Friday, the artists get 100% of the sale, because Bandcamp is pretty cool that way.

My band is at listentobucket.bandcamp.com FWIW 🀘

I love when my exact reaction to a post surfaces within scrolling distance of said post.

BlueSky really does have the juice.

Serious question: why would anyone with a chronic health condition come to a country that has a vampiric for-profit health care system?

The US has a lot of cool shit but wellness is not on that list.

Yep! The EJ -> PSB connection has the caveat that it was a collab, but otherwise yes!

Yes! Can you close the loop?

Like this: bsky.app/profile/jmh....
The Grateful Dead covered Loretta Lynn - You Ain't Woman Enough.

There are a lot of bootlegs of this online. It isn't sung by Jerry Garcia, but Donna Jean Godchaux!

I put a playlist of this on YouTube music: music.youtube.com/playlist?lis...

I had started with Patti Smith for this, hence the playlist name.

I did find a loop that feels legit though. It has the minor caveat that the only recordings of one particular cover are bootlegs, but it is well documented. Let's start there...

Another loop involved Elton John but had to use his collab with Years & Years to cover the Pet Shop Boys.

I found a few interesting cycles, but they all have caveats so far. For example one loop started on Patti Smith and found its way back to the Patti Smith Group, which is technically not the same.
November 14, 2025 at 5:21 PM
A while back I posted a challenge for #musiciansky to find a cycle of cover songs: artist A covers B, B covers C, and C covers A. Three or more artists.

I could not think of any from memory alone, nor from browsing my music collection, so I dug through secondhandsongs.com.

Results!

I am really trying hard not to be cynical these days, but I am skeptical that this will help anything.

One powerful group that tried to hide pedophilia amongst its ranks is condemning another group that is trying to hide pedophilia amongst its ranks.

I guess it can't hurt? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

gabino_iglesias@ I presume?

If so, done.
November 8, 2025 at 5:23 PM
Yeah I was certain I could close the loop with Cash, but I am still stuck!

A challenge for #musiciansky - find cycles of cover songs!

By "cycle" I mean that A covered B, B covered C, and C covered A. Or a longer chain.

I've been trying to find a good example and it's harder than I expected. E.g. Johnny Cash covered NIN, NIN covered Bowie... but how to close the loop?

It's wild to me that the only NYC borough to vote for Cuomo already has fast and free transit - the Staten Island ferry - thanks to the notorious socialist Rudolph Giuliani.
