Passionate about LGBTQ2S+, climate change, environmental crises; Indigenous progress (Cree Kokum). Majority of my time on these. Love hitting the hills to "go sane."
Only the O&G profiteers. Money markets still not forking over the $$$ investments & international markets backing off for the proven clean energy market - which is much faster to install, without the calamitous historic disasters and able to act at local levels.
Sounds fantastic, but a 15 second Google search found that @financialtimes.com, Morning Star and The Chemical Engineer all write that there will be new drilling. Is this one of those budget announcements where there's something for everyone?

Only if Fossil Fuels industry does some fancy tap-dancing to sell the unproven, ineffective, ultra-expensive so-called solution.
However, there is a dark side to this new North Sea plan in which the fossil fuel industry &lobbyists win - lock-in to gas based carbon capture

Exactly, #LazyLee!
This opinion piece cuts through all the noise and nonsense and speaks directly about many problematic issues in the MOU.

Read it and weep: This pipeline agreement is a document of betrayal
How to describe the laundry list of climate-killing gifts to Alberta that the MOU spells out? The depth of the betrayal goes beyond words. I felt ill as I read it. It’s not just the hard-won ground lo...

"The Pipeline MOU is a Tragic Failure of Vision
Carney is making one of the gravest strategic mistakes of modern economic history. Just as the world is reorganizing itself around innovation, Canada continues to centre its national economic imagination on hydrocarbons with a few bits of technology."

Can culture and heritage be catalysts for climate resilience?
Cultural heritage and local knowledge can be powerful levers for climate resilience and should be embedded into policies, planning and finance.

#Carney is showing Poilievre how to smoothly bamboozle Canadians while ripping off workers' jobs, citizens' privacy, Indigenous rights, supporting Israel's genocide & enormously increasing Canada's GHG emissions!
This is no longer the Liberal Party of Lester Pearson!

Few American cities are more vulnerable to sea level rise than New York City. The coastal community of Edgemere, Queens was among the hardest-hit during Superstorm Sandy. A decade later, residents still wait for promised flood protections.

It's no coincidence that those struggling to accept the truth about climate change are often the same people struggling to accept immigration is just part of how the world works and are often the same people struggling to accept that some people are born gay or trans and that's part of human nature.

A little pet peeve. It’s not exactly that tropical rainforests have “gone from being allies in the fight against climate breakdown to being part of the problem.” Forests lose carbon when people cut them (or via fire) and gain carbon when trees grow. It’s that the losing is outweighing the gaining.
Africa’s forests transformed from carbon sink to carbon source, study finds
Alarming shift since 2010 means planet’s three main rainforest regions now contribute to climate breakdown
