As I begin my 2nd term representing my #Pawtucket neighbors in the Rhode Island House of Representatives, I am grateful for the trust placed in me and mindful that I need to do everything I can to advocate for government which serves all of us, not just rich elites & those who "know a guy."
I am keeping the two West Virginian National Guardsmen shot in D.C. in my thoughts. They signed up to serve because they cared about their community and their country. Their families, friends, and fellow guardsmen are carrying a heavy burden today, and my heart is with them.

Today, after months of requests, I toured the Broadview ICE Processing Facility. I want to share what I saw.
The facility has no food vendor, no medical care, and detainees have to use toilets in the middle of shared cells. These are in no way suitable conditions to be holding anyone — period.

The teenager told officers he was a U.S. citizen, but an officer broke the car’s driver’s side window and detained him. In a video, the boy can be heard telling an officer that he is a citizen, to which the officer replies, “Get out of the car” and “I don’t care.”
