Couldn’t sleep as cold/flu symptoms grew overnight; starting at 8am there’s very loud construction noise in the apartment above. The whole world (including my very small bit of it) feels infinitely cursed.

Shatteringly, an answer in the Sunday Times puzzle this week
One of my all-time favorite clips of Rob Reiner, from his Friars Club Roast in 2000, as he reads aloud Roger Ebert's infamous scathing review of his movie North. The man had an amazing sense of humor about himself. RIP.

Waking up in Europe to news of a mass shooting just blocks from my childhood home, and at a university…just unbelievably grief stricken and heartbroken. I’ll have to sign off for today because the hot takes are already flooding in while young people are still in surgery.

Carnegie Mellon’s literature PhD is being liquidated in favor of “computation,” casualized labor, and AI.

That has profound ramifications for, students, faculty, and program alums like myself.

I wrote it about it (w/ Catherine Evans, a current PhD student).

Talking about race or sex politics with (white) French people will leave you shook, shaken and stirred EVERY time. They’ll be like, “oh you Americans, so puritanical” in the middle of conversation about rape.
As an American, I’m used to how terribly SA is treated here. But when I read about France, holy shit.

The topic is educational measurement. Please submit a paper/extended abstract! We'd love to consider your work.

And please help us spread the word to folks who aren't on bluesky!

Come celebrate and grieve the closing of the store, and the sunset of Bluestockings Cooperative.

Could someone just try being honest with students and parents about job outcomes and what it means to get an education and how it affects you if your instructor is struggling to piece together a living wage by teaching 5 different classes at different colleges at the same time?

A high percentage of women—I’ve heard as much as 1/4—have hemmoroidal prolapses so I’d say do this if you want more of your squishy insides on the outsides
People are too quick to judge. The woman in the video is actually starting her career as a teacher in San Diego, that restroom? It’s her entire apartment. That’s all she can afford.
I want this woman thrown in prison for at least a decade.
