Liberals have been very concerned about mis- and disinformation in recent years, so when Mark Carney says carbon capture will allow for “decarbonized” oil, we should be clear that he’s engaging in active disinformation about climate change to please Danielle Smith and the Alberta oil industry.

Unbelievable editorial @theglobeandmail.com - as our country burns, you promote Canada’s “ambition” to poison fresh water for fracking and make the climate crisis worse by exporting methane, a GHG 80x more potent than CO2? Unsubscribe.

I've been talking about this for years but the fossil fuel industry has five key narratives, they haven't changed much in decades, and they just shift between them/combine them depending on what is happening in the world. Made a quick and dirty flow chart to illustrate it:
Flow chart of the "fossil fuel spin cycle" showing the 5 narratives the industry shifts between: 1. We keep you safe, 2. We make your life work, 3. Economy vs. Environment, 4. We're part of the solution, 5. We're a great neighbor

Was any of this part of Carney’s platform? Increased military spending? Consolidation of power? Disregard for the planet and Indigenous rights?

To put this headline differently: "LNG Canada's plant in Kitimat is about to become the single largest point source of GHG emissions in BC, and its LNG exports, once burned overseas, will generate carbon emissions roughly equivalent to half the total GHGs of BC."

Reminder that increased risks of wildfire and prolonged drought in BC is thanks to the #ClimateCrisis and the #FossilFuel economy—preparedness must also include ways to recover rising costs from those that profit most from fossil fuels 👉 @suebigoil.bsky.social
People urged to prepare as warming temperatures increase wildfire, drought risk
With warmer, drier conditions expected to increase across B.C., people are advised to stay prepared for climate-related emergencies.
