The areas from which MAGA draws its strongest support are rural counties. But their woes aren't caused by immigrants moving in. Their problem is people moving out. Since 1980, most rural counties have lost population. The few who do attend college rarely return.

When Ezra Pound called on artists to "Make it new!" it became the rallying cry of Modernism. The old forms - realism, academic painting, classical tonality - no longer expressed modern experience. But it's been decades since a movement was worthy of an -ism. Now we "Re-make it new, but with irony."

Trump issued a policy paper on European security in which he Trump-splained at them that they were in danger of becoming non-European majority countries. You don't have to spend much time in Europe to know he's F.O.S.
