Playoff baseball: Every player is trying to look loose, but their bodies betray that they're hyper-wired.
The DOJ will get right on it....
This is why we need to find non-governmental solutions to our problems. The US government is broken. It can't be trusted. We can't further empower it.
When Biden nominated Garland to lead DOJ, I trashed the selection and Progressive Twitter dog piled me. They loved the poetic justice of the pick, but I found him completely unquantified for the role.
Let's check in with President Peace Prize to see how things are going..
What can the media do? There is no confirmed diagnosis. There is no doctor's statement. There's no independent verification. They've asked for more information and got nothing. Do you want them to fill the gaps with speculation?
Just out of curiosity: what's the life expectancy of someone with all those conditions?
Person, woman, man, camera, TV
We let every citizen vote. Our challenge is to prepare them for that responsibility while conservatives do everything possible to undermine it.
You don't know my situation, but tell me why health insurance companies have control over me. Then let me know how this relates to what I've been saying in this thread.
I expressed that in the first post
We need to become functional first. And at this point, I'm not sure if that's possible. Trump may be the tip of the iceberg. The next right-wing populist could be competent.
My concern is empowering a government so corrupt that it makes Teapot Dome and Watergate seem quaint. It's beyond me that anyone can look at this shit and think, "These guys need even more control over our lives..."
I prefer to solve healthcare without any government assistance. Having your benefits stripped then reinstated, depending on which candidates won the Culture War that election cycle, is no way to live.
Over time, they've been cutting the shit out of both. Medicare Advantage, payments to hospitals, reduced benefits, narrowed networks, and tightened eligibility requirements for Medicaid. And since Medicaid is jointly funded, you have all kinds of shit at the state level.
Did you read the Big Beautiful Bill Act?
Why would you want to empower a government that refuses to hold him accountable? He's only setting a precedent for the next guy to be even more corrupt.
Isn't that one more reason to stop empowering this government?
Your point was, "That won’t happen if UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE is made into the LAW of the land" and I showed you how he was violating the "LAW of the land." Why would he respect Medicare for All while he's impounding all other congressionally-appropriated funds?
The IEEPA is a LAW, and Trump is violating it.
The Administrative Procedure Act is a LAW, and Trump is violating it.
The Impoundment Control Act of 1974 is a LAW, and Trump is violating it.

I could do this all afternoon, but you get the point.
If we enact Medicare for All, the Republicans will run it half the time. They will determine eligibility, payments, and regulatory standards. If you don't see how they'll use that power to reward their cronies and punish their enemies, then you haven't been paying attention.
Gift Link: The bleachers were empty after the Black Sox scandal. MLB was lucky to have found an outsized personality with a big bat to lure them back. But guys like Babe Ruth don't come around often. If a league wrecks its integrity and doesn't have a player like that, a scandal could destroy them.

Businesses (not just the incorporated publicly traded variety) have ALWAYS been greedy. They called them robber barons for a reason. What has changed is union membership. It's plummeted since the 1960s. Labor goes to the bargaining table as individuals, not as business partners.
