Ryan Seacrest’s high school is naming its football stadium in his honor. This little story has my favorite quote I've gotten in 30 years: “He was feisty,” said former Dunwoody coach David Kelly, now an assistant at Colorado. “He’d knock the crap out of people.”

Seacrest was a standout on Dunwoody's football team, which won the 1992 AAAA Regional Championship.

A college coach getting fired for an inappropriate relationship. Sounds familiar, but without the visuals of a motorcycle and a neck brace.

Just texted with Ivan. I’m told this is back on. Sanity and emotional stability prevails.
Oh, dear Lord. What a sorry bunch of doorknobs.
Hammes Notre Dame Bookstore has canceled a scheduled Friday signing of Ivan Maisel’s book on Frank Leahy.

Ivan is a member of the College Football Playoff selection committee.

Here's the truth about most athletes: They never want to quit. They only retire when they have to -- nobody will pay them anymore. The game day thrill and the desire for that comradery seldom leaves them. So, no, the thought that Philip Rivers would want this at 44 doesn't surprise me.
NEWS: The Colts and Philip Rivers have agreed to a contract after he worked out Monday night, per source. The 44-year-old is back on the Indy practice squad, five seasons after his last NFL action.

The Hawks are included in Howard's excellent piece here -- and, yes, it's intriguing, notwithstanding the inglorious history he references.
Going all in for Giannis is tempting, but history suggests it could end in disaster. “The NBA,” says one exec, “is not very good at learning from its mistakes.”

Should You Go All In for Giannis? History Screams No.
NBA teams love going all in for superstars. It almost never works.

“Team owner Arthur Blank “is 100 percent supporting me,” Morris said Monday. “Support is not an issue.”

Support also should not be confused with job security.

Morris said Monday he won't focus on his own job security with four games remaining in the season. "I'm gonna give ... everything I've got."

The entire Falcons’ season should’ve been shown like this. And they need Mike Wazowski at tight end.
As a father of an 11-year-old who is obsessed with football, the Monsters Inc Monday Night Football cast is like the greatest thing he's ever seen on TV. At least that Chargers TD drive was.

If you look at the ACC standings you will not find @notredame.bsky.social. Why? Because Notre Dame football is only part-time in ACC. Miami is a full partner. For AD Pete Bevacqua to be upset that ACC sided with Miami over ND for playoff berth is the height of arrogance. But, hey, on par for Rudy U.
Notre Dame AD Pete Bevacqua to DP Show on the ACC: "We were mystified by the actions of the conference to attack their biggest partner really in football...They have certainly done permanent damage to the relationship between the conference and Notre Dame."

I would think so. But I don’t think it makes sense to fire a coach in a short week when you play again Thursday
@jeffschultzatl.bsky.social do you think Mr. Blank has had enough?
Yes. Especially when nobody touches him and there's a hole that a Winnebago could drive through.

Rashid Shaheed can fly. That trade is paying off for the Seahawks.

Yes, the Falcons have very special special teams.

If you're Raheem Morris, and you're 4-8, and you need to win 5 games to make the playoffs, and you probably wouldn't make them anyway, why the hell are you kicking a field goal on fourth and 3 from the 12?

He, too, is upset about Alabama getting in.

What if we rank these teams by PER?
This is the inherent problem with trying to do weekly rankings for something like CFP, you either get caught up in your "priors" or you have to do wacky stuff at the end to get to the right answer.

It scares me when I agree with everything somebody says on social media. Except, what’s a Dakota state?
Today in the big newsletter

- Get Bama up outta here
- Get JMU up in here
- Fallen, fallen are Dakota States
- Almost literally impossible to outdo Cignetti's turnaround
- Annual ACC comedy salute
- Boise State, CM Punk
- Jerry Mack COTY
- Caught up on coach news. Napier uh-oh
Miami over Bama would be right Playoff choice, plus total FCS mayhem
