I guess they'd have had to acknowledge trans people(or any other vulnerable group) even existed to have truly thrown them under the bus, but debating "abandoned" or "betrayed" feels like splitting hairs. After all, what really matters here is making things up to absolve the Dems of responsibility!

Seems like that paranoia would at least somewhat depend on the circumstances of meeting. It's entirely possible to credibly demonstrate through one's behavior that one isn't motivated by such things.

That would also be difficult to fake for more than a handful of days.
