Okay, I know it's not Saturday but I did bake some Maine Baked Beans today to share with my local pharmacy folks. I'm now down in SC so wanted them to try. Followed Mom's receipt, though more brown sugar. Also, left out salt pork as one lady is a vegetarian. #mainebakedbeans #bakedbeans

Florida’s rampant charter school scheme has so decimated public schools that Orange County (includes Orlando) might close seven campuses, including my elementary school. Some of these schools only have half the students they used to enroll.
Orange school district may close 7 campuses as enrollment declines
If the seven schools are closed, they would shut at the end of the current academic year with their students assigned to new campuses for the 2026-27 year.

Before DeSantis, Central Florida public schools were so crowded they became sprawling fields of portables. Now they’re ghost towns.

Moving students from the closed schools would mean busing longer distances or forcing parents to figure out transportation much farther from home. And would entirely negate ability for students to walk/bike to school.

Another change DeSantis made was allowing charter schools to demand space in public schools free of charge, forcing counties to foot the bill for space while losing money on per-student funding.

I have never read Stephen King so it was interesting to learn the original novel was full of slurs and I'm relieved the show didn't replicate that
"Welcome to Derry" sets racist evil ablaze without incendiary insults
As the season nears its finale, the town's racist destruction burns brightly in vile and deadly acts, not slurs.

Ensuring our troops have access to IVF is not a poison pill.

Shame on Trump for standing by as Speaker Johnson stole IVF coverage away from our servicemembers for the second year in a row.

He's no "father of IVF." He's a deadbeat dad who never keeps his promises.

I commented on RFK Jr's poor pull-up form on a Threads post & got piled on by guys because I said I actually could do 20, chin to bar. How DARE I, being a "girl".

"No you can't" and "Prove it" were screamed at me many times.

I do two sets of 10 pull-ups three times a week as part of my workout.
