Lovely film that highlights the value the BBC gives us. Early exposure for a young Ian Hislop too.
This BBC kids tv advert from 1998 is still very impressive and very lovely

The BBC is a public service broadcaster - news, drama, music, documentary and at its heart, be it for children or adults, education.

It's World Service reaches around the world and in a fragmenting world it must survive, writes Stephen MacNair.

Exactly 75 years ago today, BBC Television began regular broadcasting at Saturday teatimes with the very first episode of Whirligig, one of its first well-known, long-running children’s shows.

To mark the occasion, I’ve written a feature for the BBC website.

But if you’d like to know more… (1/3)
Whirligig
A tribute to a much-loved Saturday teatime children's favourite, 75 years on.

Those UK journalists backing Trump - a man who endorses the murder of a journalist because he’s ‘controversial’ - against the BBC need to see if they can find their moral compass
You know about Trump and Zelesnkyy’s call, but have you heard about the call between Trump and the Saudi Crown Prince?

Watch my statement below. Mr. President, release the transcript.

The whole of the quite frankly amazing Public Service Broadcasting performance at 2022’s BBC Proms is up at YouTube and I can’t recommend it highly enough. Do I love PSB? I darn well do. And the entire show -orchestra, choir, horn section, film, light show - is nothing other than remarkable. Go see.

If you don’t like the BBC, I suggest that you go to America and watch their TV for a day. It gives you a migraine. The BBC also keeps the standards of the other outlets relatively high. If you think we watch shit now, imagine it with no BBC. And they actually care about drama, children’s, factual.
