I thought in August that I'd rather the Brewers went deep into the playoffs than have delivered free George Webb burgers for everyone. Still think that. Perhaps George Webb can grill some more burgers over what might be shaping up as a postseason flameout.

Let me state this as clearly as I can:

It is not the job of a historian to make you feel good about your nation’s past.

We need to print this on t-shirts and bumper stickers.

Meta has removed a Chicago ICE-tracking Facebook page.

The move follows Apple and Google removing ICE activity tracking apps from their app stores.

The removals came after a demand from Trump’s DOJ.

Once again, Big Tech is bending the knee to our tyrant-in-chief to protect its bottom line.

This is good: Rep Eric Swalwell tells me House Dems are now discussing making an end to mask-wearing a precondition for ICE funding.

"When we are in the majority, the masks are coming off," he says.

This is the next frontier in anti-Trump resistance.

Trump ICE Raids Take Horrific Turn in Chicago, Handing Dems an Opening
There’s one simple pledge Democrats can make to voters about ICE that’s easy to understand and will have broad support.

As federal immigration agents bring chaos and violence to Chicago, I’m reminded of Mayor Richard J. Daley’s famous quote: “The police are not here to create disorder, they're here to preserve disorder.”
The feds are here to create disorder.

Important: this is exactly how propagandists operate.

NEW:

A dramatic voiceover video the White House and Donald Trump shared last week claiming to show "chaos" in Chicago is littered with outdated footage from Florida, Texas, South Carolina, Nebraska, California and Arizona, an AFP investigation found.

Also a reminder these weren’t “Kids”! Some of these “Young Republicans,” which includes ages up to 40, were elected officials or government appointees.

This week's TV map for far-flung Packers fans is a lot like last week's map. Fox is showing Sunday's game vs. the Cardinals to the BLUE areas on this @506sports.bsky.social map plus Alaska. 3:25 p.m. CT kickoff from Glendale, AZ. Kenny Albert and Jonathan Vilma on the call.

The mandolin breakdown in “Maggie May” is always so nice. Sometimes I’m lukewarm on that song but then the mandolin hits and all is good

Didn't have much power and only a .236 career batting average, but he did stick in the majors for 15 years. Something to be said for that.

Topps put this card in the 1976 set to celebrate Brewers infielder Kurt Bevacqua's win. Gum bubbles were measured with a Bazooka caliper held by NL umpire Dick Stello. Both Bevacqua and Johnny Oates tried to cheat (candle wax in the mustache and old gum), but host Joe Garagiola ruled that out. (2/2)

50 years ago today, on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 1975, Brewers infielder Kurt Bevacqua, representing the AL, blew an 18 1/4-inch bubble to win the World Series of Bubble Gum Blowing, which was taped for that night's World Series Game 3 pregame show. He beat Phillies catcher Johnny Oates from the NL. (1/2)

Print has been dragging down newspapers for decades, accelerated by the rise of the web and the internet in the '90s. They should have gone digital-only and stopped printing papers long ago.

This is what I was getting at in today’s column. Republicans won’t do anything without Trump’s permission. Period.

“GOP will brutalize voters with spiking health care costs unless Trump says to stop.”

Billionaire tax cuts are a policy choice.

Cutting healthcare for millions is a policy choice.

Cutting food assistance for children is a policy choice.

Taking from the poor and giving to the rich is a policy choice.

Make no mistake: Trump and the GOP just chose to do this.
