A little about me and my aesthetic: I love books, cats, and the F-word, plus the LGBTQIA+ community, especially the transgender community.

For books, it's mostly sci-fi, fantasy, romance, mystery, and any combinations imaginable.
And my Christmas music! Where's the bin with my Christmas CDs?!?

Yes, I know CDs are old school, but since I can only play them in the car, they're also useless.

Kid brought in the Christmas bins. I'm missing one. I can't find any of the gift labels, or the garlands of lights I had on my staircase railings. Or my Christmas wreath andwindow lights.

I'm going to hard to skip Christmas this year and start right after Halloween, since this* didn't work.

Reached my 300-book reading goal for 2025 with this surprisingly excellent sci-fi book* - I don't think I'll set next year's goal as high since it gave me a ridiculous amount of stress this month.

What takes more work?

1) Finding a Christmas tree, strapping it on top of a Mini Cooper, setting it up and decorating it

2) Pulling books off their shelves and stacking them into a tree-shaped thing

Asking for a friend...

I wish this were true, but it's a week from Christmas and we haven't decorated anything because I'm too exhausted to get the bins from the garage.

Me: I feel like cleaning the bathroom.

My brain: last time you cleaned anything you couldn't walk for two days. You work tomorrow. You should not clean today.

Me: stupid broken body.

My body: what?!? I'm fully functional right now!

All of this. Be extremely wary of those words. They’re part of the reason I withdrew a story from a dream market this year.
If you see the words 'irrevocable', 'in perpetuity', 'formats not yet invented', 'net after costs', 'all rights', you're selling every damn thing you could make money from as an author for a one time payment, or in this case, a promise.

Signing this gives the publisher money meant for you forever.
Behold, if you will, the...astonishing...contract from Shadow Light Press. A rolling 10-year term...payment on profit (but only after costs are recouped)...appropriation of the author's universe if they can't continue the series...and more www.reddit.com/r/Progressio...

I definitely chose some novellas to reach this goal, but considering how many 8+ hour audiobooks I normally read, a few short ones didn't even change the pie chart much.

This is my third goal of the year. Started with 250. Then 275. Now 300.

Can officially confirm: the week before my period I have no desire to read anything 🔥🔥🔥, and mainly spend a few days trying sci-fi books and discarding them.

Most I don't mark as DNF unless I actually hated them. The rest I'll give another try later.

The amount of times I've bought something, opened it, used it once, and then decided I can't stand the smell and will never use it again is ridiculous. Lotions. Shampoos. Creams. You can't just give open containers to people. Especially when your rating is : it stinks.

The street art in Brighton may not be one piece of art, but one building in particular brought me so much joy. Went for the #Banksy and found so much more. #StreetArt #Graffiti

As the year wraps up and we all prepare for the winter holiday break, please remember the reason for the season, and that there’s still time to send out an offer on a book, perhaps for six figures, in a multiple book deal, with no joint accounting. Bless.

Last night our pizza delivery guy told my husband, "If I don't see you before then, have a merry Christmas!"

Apparently we get the same delivery guy every time, and we order pizza about once a week. So he knows us better than most people in our little town.

I'd love to know what they say about us.

Went through my notes and found I have 90% of what I need to review 12 books. I know why I haven't written the #BookReviews, though.

I look at my notes, remember the book and my rating, and then get overwhelmed with how to sum it all up.

Never used to be a problem.

Did I just go on eBay and buy this set of hardback books in very good condition because I can't find my original paperbacks of a series I absolutely loved? Yes.

Why? See comments;)

Declined an ARC for the new #Murderbot book, but I don't blame them... I asked for it "late" - I usually snag them as soon as they're available* - and I have a lot of reviews to do already. I've been blessed to review the last three Murderbot books, so I'm not mad.

This cat has mastered getting a human's attention, then leading them to what she wants. It's usually a closed door she wants open.

I call her Lassie when this happens: "What's that Lassie? Your human is locked in her room? She needs rescue? Lead on!"

My mental health is dancing on the edge, so I used #StoryGraph to go through my TBR pile and remove any (for now) with trigger warnings that I need to avoid.

No infidelity, grief, death, war.... I need lighter stuff for the remainder of the year.

That's protecting my #MentalHealth

Also, congratulations everyone who made something this year. A comic, a song, a film, a novel, a painting, a poem, a short story, a sculpture, crochet, embroidery, whatever it is. In this era of slop and theft, if you *make* something you are a shining jewel and I am so grateful for you.
