*sigh* back to the ORIGINAL point I made, baseball would do well with an established youth development program akin to world club soccer, so these supposedly shady deals wouldn't seem so shady
if you want to argue to abolish the MLB draft or Barcelona's academy system you're free to do that, but that's not the thing I am discussing on my personal social media based on the relevant news of the day to the thing I have written about professionally for a decade

this is enough of a pancakes/waffles post that I maybe shouldn't even respond, but 1.) half of baseball journalists are huge soccer fans and 2.) intl soccer has an organized academy system with some guardrails, which is distinctly not what is happening with MLB teams' illegal pre-deals in the DR/VZ
