Outside of that the US is obviously massively richer now, 1887 was, in fact, a recession year in a decade of recessions. Which probably accounts for why incumbent presidents/parties lost in 1884, 1888, 1892, and 1896.
Trump: "If you go back to 1887, that was probably richest point that our country was ever in. And it was all tariff income."

Just as everyone predicted with the exception of Donald Trump, Scott Bessent, Howard Lutnick, and Kevin Hassett. The last 3 knew they’ve been lying, not sure with Orange Caligula because he’s a moron and a liar so in his case it could be either one or both.

This is what happened in our neighborhood yesterday. ICE snatched a human being off of our streets, roughed them up badly, and then pepper sprayed legal observers as they documented it all. This is a daily occurrence happening all throughout Minnesota right now.

per the story, the “Abolish ICE is bad” dude is also a “former Department of Homeland Security and Customs and Border Protection official”
The author of a controversial memo from centrist think tank Searchlight telling Democrats to abandon the slogan “Abolish ICE” is a senior advisor for WestExec, a D.C. shadow lobbyist for corporations in the defense, surveillance, and immigration enforcement industries.

This is just state police, but in cities, mayors can do similar.

The next step? Ensure that police hold ICE accountable for breaking the law.
Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger just issued an executive order shutting down state police cooperation with Trump’s ICE immediately after taking office.

The Trump admin is moving to quickly deport two men who witnessed, they say, ICE guards choke a fellow detainee to death.

The admin moved to deport men right after they spoke the Washington Post.

This is the death that the medical examiner has already ruled likely homicide.

The two men’s eyewitness accounts of the Jan. 3 death of Geraldo Lunas Campos at a Texas detention camp differ from the Department of Homeland Security’s account of the incident.

Mubashir and his family came to the United States as refugees from Ethiopia when he was a child, and they all became naturalized citizens in 2019.

Despite being a U.S. citizen, Mubashir was targeted by ICE, assaulted, and detained. Listen to his story:

Anyone have any decent sources for the full specs of iPhone batteries? Actual battery chemistry (not just "Lithium Ion"), energy and power density, weight and volumes, etc?

This stuff has to be relatively well known, considering the supply chain, repair market, and so on..

I don’t know who this Minnesota man is, but he absolutely speaks for me.

He doesn't do any of that.
He deploys ICE agents in full gear to "protect" polling locations in majority democrat areas only. He instructs the postmaster general not to process mail-in ballots that are "insecure" (just from democrat voters).

We end up having an election, but not a real one.
the question to ask about this is, okay, he wants to cancel the midterms. how does he get the VA state board of elections to cancel the midterms? how does he get the georgia board of elections to do it? how does he convince republican house members to quit their jobs and give up their paychecks?
Trump says a lot of deranged shit, but, per this Reuters article — and the threats of invoking the Insurrection Act in Minnesota this morning — he is very clearly exploring how to cancel the midterms.

Mainstream media will not treat this seriously, because they have the memory of a fruit fly.

Every single one of these little crazy asides that Trump has blurted out, he has acted on. Every time. Over and over. For years.

This is a promise from Trump. A PROMISE.

No? Wait were the simulations in your brain?
Brooke Rollins: "We've run over 1,000 simulations. It can cost around $3 a meal for a piece of chicken, a piece of broccoli, corn tortilla, and one other thing. So there is a way to do this that actually will save the average American consumer money."

Ah yes, it's right there in the name.

"Shooting U.S. citizen mothers in the face" is a core part of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, you know.
Mike Johnson comes out against additional guardrails on ICE as Democrats call for it.

“I think there's a lot of Democrats playing games right now with national security and with law enforcement. And I think it's dangerous. Ice is doing what ice is designed to do by its very name.”
