Words of wisdom (WOW)!
An abbreviation (ABB) in a journal article (JA) or Grant Application (GA) is rarely worth the words it saves. Every ABB requires cognitive resources (CR) and at my age by the time I'm halfway through a JA or GA I no longer have the CR to remember what your ABB stood for.

My biggest writing advice to grad students is: don’t be a perfectionist. I hope you find an advisor who works with you on shitty first drafts. My grad advisor Judy Hall and I would send imperfect drafts back and forth til it’s as good as we can get. Writing fast is prob a big predictor of publishing
I am teaching my phd writing workshop course this quarter, question: are there any words/phrases said to you by an advisor/mentor that stuck with you, were memorable, or particularly helpful? If so please reply below!
