That’s really useful to know.

Stand wise, would you like me to make you one with the exact features ya need?

I’ve been making mounts / stands for my Switch using my 3D printer. It’s really fun decompression activity and i can make pretty much any shape. Sounds like fun :)
3/4 angle shot of Jamie’s 3D printed switch 2 stand / bed mount. It’s black and has the switch logo. It sitting on the light coloured wooden shelf against a white wall. A photo of Jamie’s switch stand mounted to the side of Jamie’s bed. The mount also have space for some screen cleaning wipes in the front. A photo of the stand on Jamie’s desk showing the soft felt pads he added inside the slot so it wouldn’t damage the screen. The felt pads are the same bright orange and blue colour as the switch joycons.
Ooo. Thanks for replying *blush*

That’s very encouraging. I saw on the LTT review the angled screen isn’t great for using it laying flat so in a little nervous about that.

How have you found it?

Handheld Forza Horizon 5 + modded snowrunner is an appealing combo.

UK price is a little better too
Each time I run the file I get back a new file back with response filled in.

I read the summaries, have a think, tweak something or add new rows for new ideas. Run it again

It lets me experiment away too see if I can make something useful.

I’ll share my results later :)

Hope it helps to share.
All three models are open source & free.

I’m testing two sizes of Lama trained by Meta to see size versus quality.

Plus the largest version of ‘eurollm’ which is made by EU universities & funded by ERC (eurollm.io)

Hoping eurollm does well as it’s vastly more ethical & community focused.

The first step is working out the model and prompt for most ‘Jamie friendly’ summary

I’ve made a sorta test tool to summarise a document I know well

Each row is testing a different combo of model + prompt.

My tool runs & gives me back the same file with responses in the bank space on the end.
A picture showing a spreadsheet. The first column is the model name. Second column is the system prompt and the third column is empty for the response.

Jamie has some code he’s already written to take a file like this, run all the prompts then return the file with the responses in the third column.

The file has 9 combos rows. It’s the same 3 system prompts run against 3 different models.

The prompts are:

“You are helping a young child understand complex text. Summarise the following text removing idoms, removing language that could be misunderstood if taken literally. Do not exceed 150 words. Provide a reference back to the original text for all facts in the summary. <text>”

“Summarise this text and simplify the use of idoms and any language which may not be intended to be taken literally. <text>”

“Explain the text below to an alien who has the knowledge of an adult but the reading ability of a 5 year old human.”

The models are:

Lama3.3:70b, lama3.2:3b and erurollm-9b-instruct
🧵 Working on a new bit of LLM based tooling for myself this morning… a sort of ‘summerize for Jamie’ widget

Drag the file or URL on a magic icon… get back something with simpler language, with things like idoms & literalisms removed.

Using open source models running on my Mac.

Here’s my plan

Totally agree. It simply shouldn’t be this hard, complex, expensive or down right stress inducing just to make a fictional number get bigger.

For some reasons we’ve ended up with the bizarre concept that a building is a temporary thing.

Needs a big rethink :)
This was my 4th non buggy trip into the city.

Sitting down is still hella complex, so few seats are compatible with my tailbone injury… spent most of the event stood up or sitting wonky on one butt cheek & hoping for the best.

But… it’s deeply surreal to be doing this stuff again :)
Yesterday was so much fun! Spent the day going deep on open banking API stuff, then had a play with a funky dataset… then went to an amazing accessibility meet up in the evening.

Feels good! Having a slow start today but I’ve got a massive smile.

Squee. Life is good. All the busy in a good way :)

It’s such a brutal process. Well done for making it through! Huge achievement (& hopefully financially worthwhile too!)
Another cracking & insightful perspective on the Ally X.

Really glad to see Microsoft sending review units to accessibility reviewers alongside the main tech press.
Thanks to @xbox.com providing Marijn with the ROG Xbox Ally X, we can share our accessibility impressions today!

The Windows 11 powered handheld PC packs a lot of punch, great ergonomics, and ease of use thanks to the Xbox full screen experience.

The ROG Xbox Ally X is a handheld PC packing a lot of punch with improved ergonomics and a lot of accessibility features.

Really useful perspective.

I’m extremely curious about this handheld… my experiences with switch are encouraging, but the weight and grip situation make me pause.

I wish there was a real world place to try one :(
The ROG Xbox Ally X has moments of accessibility brilliance. Yet, for physically disabled players, its overall layout and price create insurmountable inaccessible barriers. Read my review on Access Granted here:

Despite moments of accessibility brilliance, the ROG Xbox Ally X's overall design and price point pose too many inaccessible barriers.

I'm looking for animation work!

-15 years working experience
-9 years in game development
-Helped ship three games, most recently as 2D animation lead on The Plucky Squire

I'd love to animate for your game.
Thanks *blush* it’s one of those things which i always felt drawn too but didn’t try for decades…

till one day I have it a whirl and it was exactly as fun as I imagined. Sensory delights :)
I’m not trans as such, but a weirdly gender euphoric thing for me is enjoying the kinetic swirl when i ignore gender norms & wear a skirt.

It just clicks with my brain in a super satisfying way. I sometimes have the confidence to wear skirts around friends & i just float around happier and bouncier
Trans folk of all and any kinds - what’s your singular most wtf gender affirming or euphoric thing. Something that you’d never have expected until it happened but dammit it works, so what the hell you’ll take more of it?
Are there any videos or recordings for folks to catch up with?

Possible causes of your problems. It’s a diagram that (sadly) still seems relevant in 2025, so reposting a year and a bit on.
Diagram titled 'Possible causes of your problems'. On the left hand side, subtitled 'Yes': Funding removed from local councils, growing gap between rich and poor, multinational companies not paying their taxes, lack of new affordable housing, government not investing sufficiently in schools and healthcare. On the right hand side, subtitled 'No': Picture of small boat, with arrow; 'People fleeing horrific situations that you and I can't imagine'.
Oh heck. That’s all the fun. I spent an afternoon driving one to help a friend a few months ago… loved it.

Managed to avoid knocking anything down… mostly :)

Hope you have a heap of fun and it all goes smoothly.
That makes sense. I know one of the reasons is comfort… with my injury it’s vastly more comfortable to lay flat than sit.

The adaptive chair is good, but from the moment I sit down it’s only so long before I’ll get sore.

It’s probably time to get out the cosy onesies for maximum desk snugness :)
I love my desk and it’s pretty comfy… but heck… getting to my desk in the morning is hard.

It’s often the hardest transition of the day.

Doesn’t matter if I’m sitting there for gaming or for work, it’s always a bit of a challenge.

Once I’m settled it’s fine. Anyone else find it tricky?
A photo of Jamie’s desk in the bay window of the playroom. It’s very neat and tidy. His desk is made from a bit of wood across the top of storage boxes and a laundry basket to get the height right for his big blue adaptive chair.

There’s a Mac and 30” display on Jamie’s desk. Plus a big space themed desk pad, keyboard and mouse.

Either side of the desk has a ‘studio monitor’ for doing audio work. Kinda like speakers but setup to be more accurate. There’s a pot plant on one and some thomas the tank engine die cast toys on the other.

Behind Jamie’s desk is a big curtain with jungle animals on it. The rooms vibe is inviting and gentle.
Andy is a lovely human. Well worth chatting to him if it’s a match :)
I'm working on a Roblox story for a national outlet and keen to talk to parents of older teens (12-16) who play Roblox games:
✅ Which games do they play?
✅ Why play that rather than a console game?
✅ How do they find new Roblox games?

Shares appreciated #JournoRequest
All bouncy cause I can start telling folks I’ll be on stage at TechSharePro this year :)

I’m jointing the ‘AI & Accessibility Panel’ to chat about the AI powered tools I’ve been building to help me live more independently

Practical little things that all run locally & solve day to day barriers :)
Used the gov.uk one login app to prove my identity for companies house…

And it worked first time.

Verifying identify of company directors is a huge huge step. It closes so many scammy loopholes.

It’s kinda surreal that creating a UK limited company didn’t perform any basic checks before now!
gov.uk
Aww damn. I really want to be positive about this as a concept…

I could see it working for something like CDN nodes or other use cases for extremely simple hardware scattered around the place.

For any complex hardware, keeping it maintained will be a big pain. Really curious how this plays out.

This makes me happy - I love performing and I love talking to those who come and I am happy people feel the space is inviting not inhibiting - it took me many years to fit my skin comfortably
I've got fairly severe social anxiety and it was a bit of a struggle to go to see you. You set me at ease within a few minutes with your openess and relaxed humour though. It was quite a big moment for me and I'm very glad that I went.
